Big News!

Ethan applied for a job over the labor day holiday. While he didn’t get hired for that position, it was discussed that another position, a paid internship, may be available. Ethan set up a meeting on his own. In between classes he drove to The Little Speed Shop to meet with the shop owner.

He was so excited to be hired on as a team member. There was no doubt in my mind that there is nothing else he would rather do.  I am most proud that we worked on his resume together.  He submitted it with a wonderfully written cover letter.

The Little Speed Shop is an auto repair shop and race facility.  They specialize in German cars and focus on top notch customer service.  They also host Cars and Coffee monthly (except through the pandemic) and Ethan has always loved going to those.

He is very excited to start.  It was a bright spot in an otherwise sucky week.  He is waiting on details of when he is able to start. He is worried he wont have enough energy to work.  Luckily the owner's know him and of his condition.  They also have a child that goes to Strong Cardiology.  Their son's doctor is one of Ethan's doctors.

He has had a tough week.  He is not sleeping well, his appetite is down, he feels exhausted most of the time and little things take big effort.  He is hoping that it is due to the vaccine reaction but I am  not as convinced.  These are all classic signs of heart failure. Don't panic, heart failure is defined as a heart that is not pumping efficiently.  Ethan has had heart failure for a while.

Ethan gets frustrated with it.  He just wants to go and do, but his body is failing him. Fingers crossed that they will put him on the transplant list when we go to NYC.  They may decide he isn't "bad enough" and not list him.  Paul is not worried about that but I sure am.

School is going well for both kids. Ethan is glad he chose remote learning.  Avery likes her decision to go twice a week.  Yesterday we went and got donuts and cider to embrace the cooler fall weather.
