Today was a good day. Ethan ate breakfast. Did his morning routine. We were watching a show on hunting big foot. We were discussing the lack of use of infrared camera’s or trail cam’s.  We were discussing whether the foot prints they were finding were legit or not. It seems like they don’t want valid proof like a video, just to suspect they are in the area because sticks are broken. It was quite entertaining. We haven’t had the tv on much so it was nice to watch something together.

Ethan was able to walk assisted to the couch. I made him a “seat” that wouldn’t allow him to slip. Yesterday he was having issues slipping. I used some pillows and tape. Boom!  My seat was pretty good. He still slipped but not as frequently.

He did some OT by coloring. He then proceeded to nap the whole afternoon. He didn’t even attempt to get back into bed until after 8 pm.

Ethan had an X-ray done. His lungs looked good and not “wet”.  Ethan continues to hate his strict fluid restriction and I don’t blame him. I feel guilty every time I have a drink. He usually mutters “lucky”.

I was strongly urging to have dialysis tomorrow in the afternoon. That way Ethan gets the benefits of PT in the morning. I was told it depends on the nurses that run the dialysis machine. I will still continue to push but we will see.

Ethan had minimal wretching today which is good. He was able to eat at all meals. The icing on the cake was that one of Ethan’s favorite nurses from 9 Tower was working on our floor tonight. He was the room right next to us. So nice to have a familiar face. So of course I kept him from working by talking his ear off. Ethan gave him a hug before bed because he was afraid he was sleep through when he left in the morning.

It was a quiet day and I was able to get in some yoga which felt good.

  1. Way to Go! PS. You can ask PT/OT for some Dysom non slip material, or a DYI version is using that rubber shelf liner with the tiny holes in it. That's what we use to keep butts in place.

  5. That’s so good he was able to eat and the wretching seems to be subsiding. 🤞 It sounds like a much needed and so deserved quiet, restful Sunday for you both.
Yoga is so good for you, Patti...physically (especially for your back) and mentally. I’d be in the looney bin if I didn’t have it...not kidding! Even just a few minutes a day in child’s pose on your mat can be such a help.
Praying for a good week ahead with complete healing of that kidney. We are all thinking of you guys, Paul and Avery too with positive thoughts and well wishes for Ethan. 🙏❤️

  6. Oh my stars, a somewhat peaceful day, Patti!!!!! Yikes! How did this happen? I love the "seat" idea. Slipping is a pain in the booty when your body isn't responding well. You can't hitch yourself up like normal.

And glad the wretching seems to be easing. I am tempted to bottle feed him if he keeps losing weight, and we'll put oatmeal in the bottle so it's not liquid. And applesauce. Doesn't that sound dreadful and yet babies thrive on it. They're so silly!

Glad we don't have to have kidney pie. The very thought is repugnant. I was looking for an excuse to use the word repugnant. It's such a great word. SAT friendly, right?

Hug the brat for me. We're getting weird squalls (and squall alerts on the phone, I've never had that happen before...) First snow, then hail, then snow, repeat.... with high winds. But sunshine in between the racing cloud fronts coming right off the lake. It's the kind of weather you only seem to get with a Great Lake involved, but it's kind of cool!

Glad you have had a chance to do yoga... to think... to chill. Praying for complete healing and drinking cautions to be lifted. Remind them what happened during Prohibition. Those moonshiners are the original Nascar drivers! :)
