5/2

Sunday’s are the days we get the medications ready for the week.

We had a typical day today. It was low key. The focus was on eating. Ethan weighed in at 98.6#. He is feeling good.

We all needed a day of rest. We had some good family time together.

Tomorrow I will call to schedule the neurology appointment for Ethan. He will have to have an EEG, where they measure the electrical activity of his brain. It won’t tell us exactly why he had the seizure, it will give us clues about it.

Ethan is focusing on what he can do, instead of what he can’t do. He is doing well with that.  He is going to focus on his plan to rebuild a drift car since he can’t drive for a year. This project has been in his mind for a while. He was going to do it a bit later but with the change with the seizure, we reprioritized. This will keep him occupied and not focused on what he CAN’T do.

Ethan mentioned that all the things he loved were being taken away from him. Hell was creeping in again. It seems that hell likes the smell of the shit Ethan steps in. These are statements that are dangerous. They stand in the way of a positive outlook. If you start thinking negatively, it impairs your progress. This is hell’s trap.

With a refocus on what Ethan CAN do, his attitude changed and focusing on the car is the swift kick to Hell’s family jewels. Good!

You can see the light inside of Ethan has been relit. His eyes have that sparkle again. His mind is racing with ideas of what he wants to do. Mental attitude is key in recovery.

His tongue is feeling a little better. It looks a bit gnarly. He also decided it was NOT going to stop him from eating. He “pushed through” the discomfort of his mutilated tongue and ate some foods he really liked.

He is back in the forward motion. Now we wait for him to started smelling like a rose again.

  2. Go Ethan! Sending you great vibes to push through all the hard stuff and focus on what's possible. Much easier said than done for all of us. You've come so, so far.... you've got this! Some things aren't possible right now, but that doesn't mean they won't be in the future. A drift car sounds amazing. You are still inspiring all of us. Lots of love!

  5. Your posts are always so inspiring, especially, when it is most needed. Changing my “what I can’t do” and feeling sorry for myself, to “what I can do”...thank you for that.

Ethan is a fellow eater and love of sweets after my own heart...I wouldn’t let a gash in my tongue stop me from eating either. LOL
I still owe him a pizza so let’s plan a night...I’ll grab a sheet, Ethan’s choice. He may wanna wait for more healing though.
