7/23/23

Paul, his brother Darren, and the Julie’s (sister and sister-in-law) went on a 20 mile hike. It sounded so awful to me I was going to stay with the kids.

Avery, my nephew Marcus and I decided we wanted a boat ride, so we took the ferry across Jenny lake and did a 3 mile-ish hike first thing in the morning.

It was beautiful. Even driving there, we took the scenic route through the Grand Tetons park. We were hoping to see some wild animals, but we saw fenced horses, chipmunks, and birds…ho hum.

We arrived at the wrong parking lot. Our reward was that we were greeted with a beautiful scene. The mountains reflecting on the water. It was so serene.

As soon as we got off the boat, our hiking path welcomed us with a earthy scent of pine needles and crisp air. Deep breath! Yum!

We hiked a bit to Hidden Falls. It was so pretty. It was slightly steep.

we then kept elevating up, up, up. There was loose gravel,  and a lot of steps. A LOT of steps. We came to a landing that had a spectacular view! Wow!

We decided to go higher. There was a lot of huffing and puffing on my part. There was sweat rolling down my face, and as the elevation climbed so did my yawning, and respiration rate. We were 13 times higher than our elevation at home. There was a rock on one side and sure death on the other. The air is thinner up there.

We hung out at this level for for a bit and it was about 7400 feet above sea level. There were friendly chipmunks and we sat to watch them for a bit as we laughed at their silliness. They were VERY outgoing.

After we walked back, we went back to the Airbnb. We made lunch as we had a healthy appetite by then.
Avery napped, I napped and Marcus was not affected at all. Show off.

Marcus and I went to get ice-cream while Avery slept. I got huckleberry. It was delicious. We picked the rest of the others up at like 6:00 pm while Avery made dinner. We had a leisurely evening and went to bed early.

Paul completed the 20 mile hike. He had a tumble and got a scraped up knee but overall he finished and was well.
