Every minute felt like an hour ticking away today. We missed Jiminy so much.  Waiting for that call to come was torturous.

The hospital called to let me know Jiminy was still doing well and on track for going home. I had to wait for the neurologist’s assessment.

She finally called around 1:00. I ended up missing one of my meetings to talk to her. Fine by me!  Jiminy is presenting normally. He is a little off balance at times but overall, doing well. He needs three times a day keppra to keep his seizures away. It will be called his seizure repellant.

His medication can make him hungry, grumpy and unsteady on his feet…all things better than seizures.

We set up a pick up time for 5:15 pm. Man! That time couldn’t come quick enough.

Paul was away snowmobiling and returned home to drive us to Buffalo.  The ride took forever. We got there and had to wait a little bit to see him. Paul was looking a bit sad and when asked, he is very worried this is going to happen again.

Me too! Here is the thing. Moe can’t have any anticipated food or treats with other dogs around.  Paul voiced he thinks Moe needs to go to a family with no other dogs.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried. But Moe can’t just “go to another family”. He needs hard rules and structure.

We can juggle things and keep the dogs separated as Jiminy heals.

The amount of joy that washed over me having him in my arms again was immeasurable. He gave Paul a kiss on the nose like the sweet angel puppy that he is.

We went over discharge instructions. And got back on the road to come home. When we arrived home, Ethan had shoveled a spot for Paul to pull up to the house and shoveled a path to the house.

Jiminy had to go to the bathroom pretty bad. I noticed he stumbled a little bit as he walked around. He finally went to the bathroom and then settled into his favorite spot, Ethan’s lap.

I told Ethan not to let Jiminy do the stairs for a while. He needs to get more steady on his feet. We will also need to make sure he doesn’t jump off the cough.

Jiminy is NOT a fan of his medication. But he did get a treat for taking his medication. I am hoping he will warm up to the idea of taking his medication without a fight. So far, he has declined that request. Ha!
