happy 4 th of July! Today was a leisurely day. I woke up at almost 8:30 this morning! Woo hoo!
Avery was up so we walked the dogs together. It was so quiet. We could hear the birds singing. The cows and pigs at the nearby farm were making a little bit of noise and it smelled a little manure-ish when we walked by them.
It was nice out until about 1:00. We had our snacks and sat out in the sprinkle. It was so humid, we didn’t mind getting a little we.
The lake is measuring about 82 degrees in the area we swim in.
Ethan and his friends went out on the paddle boards as well as the paddle boat. They were all laughing and giggling, which is contagious. These boys are hilarious with their language and digs on one another.
Scott was shooting Phil in the back of the head with a squirt gun saying “I am shooting you in the bald spot Phil.” Just dumb stuff like that.
The slushie machine was used in abundance. I had it set up outside with non-alcoholic juice. Normally you can ad alcohol. Ethan does not drink alcohol. So anyone could customize their beverage.
Avery and Kendall also put the paddle boards to use. It is a great balance exercise.
I took out a paddle board at one point. It takes coordination and balance not to fall in. I lasted about 10 minutes and then I was sore.
Moe went in the lake once or twice. He got to run along side of the bike which I enjoy doing with him. It tires us both out.
Around 4:30 the rain cleared up and the wind died down. Our college/vacation group came for a visit. We had a big dinner and enjoyed visiting.
I am thankful to get to hang out with my kids and their friends. Just to hear them share a laugh or joke it music to my ears.
It came time for Ethan’s fireworks. He set up everything. He started with day time fireworks that were mostly ground fireworks. He had these cool rainbow smoke ones that went up high.
It was time for the big show. There were a few mishaps that he adapted to. But no one could tell the mishaps. The fireworks that he made were impressive. He had a blue one that reached across the sky and arced all the way down to the lake. It was ginormous and spanned across the whole sky.
He has already started thinking about next year. How he is going to modify his recipe to see if that makes a difference in his lift and his explosion.
It was a day of friends and family. I really enjoyed seeing my kids having fun and enjoying the lake. I enjoyed hearing their conversations and listening to them laugh.
