Ethan’s Journey

I did my presentation today. The school took about 25 minutes to get their equipment up and running. I was frustrated with myself afterwards. I kept saying UM! I hate that. I try to avoid that as much as possible and always evaluate how I did. Luckily I made up for it in laughs generated. I like the presentation to be a little entertaining since it is a boring topic. I was glad it is Friday. I was over “it” today and unable to concentrate as well as I would have liked. The “it” was work. I do work more than required. Last night I was working in the waiting room as the tax guy did his thing. My brain said ENOUGH! I laid out my clothes and toiletries that I will be taking to Grand Bahama. That was far more exciting than work. Paul and I will each take 2 carry on’s for the week. We have laundry at the house we are staying at. I have a variety of snacks for us for the week as well. Paul had his cardiac check up today. When Ethan was born and his initial heart defect was discovered, he had some genetic testing done. Paul and myself as well as our siblings were encouraged to get checked as well. No one had any precursors to Shone’s Syndrome, Ethan’s diagnosed heart condition. But the cardiologist did find an enlarged spot on Paul’s aorta. He has been going to routine visits ever since. Long ago I told Paul that he can’t have any heart conditions because Ethan already claimed that. Paul goes for an echo in a few weeks. They will measure the enlarged area and see if it is growing larger. Paul’s back was hurting. Didn’t he get the memo that I have the bad back? He needs to find another ailment! I have already claimed that one. Geez Paul, always a copy cat! I had him do some of my back stretches and they did help him feel better.  Sarah came over this evening. There was a lot of deep gut laughing about stuff that was not important. She came in and shared that she had a difficult client and it made her think of one of the first times she had met me. We met by working at the same animal hospital at one point. We had a lot of fun during that short time and really clicked. It was the early 2000’s. She said that some older man was in a room and he was mean to her. She exited the room quietly. She said she was crying and I greeted her in the hallway. We didn’t really know one another very well but she had shared which room this guy was in. I walked by the room to assess the man. I realized he  had an oxygen tank and told her I was going to go knock the oxygen tank over so it exploded. That will teach him. (Of course I don’t do that). I have no recollection of these events. But can confirm that I would have that thought about the oxygen tank if I  felt someone was being mean. I am glad she remembered it ...

  Now started bugging me today to go outside. He was so annoying, that I threw his bed outside. I used a leash and secured him inside the house, and fed the leash under the door. He was secure in case a delivery person were to come.  I tossed his bed outside there and he laid like this for about 2 hours. Looking, watching and enjoying himself. The sun was out, the birds were singing and the temperature was delightful. Eventually he did nap. At one point I moved my work space outside and sat on my front porch to do some work. All the dogs were outside with me exploring the yard. Our one neighbor, he uses his leaf blower to daily blow out his driveway. I went inside at that point because the leaf blower is loud. 8 days left of work. Ethan went and got his new glasses fitted. I think they are the same as his old ones.  Ethan has to go for bloodwork this Saturday. Hoping everything looks good. I also have to go for bloodwork. Routine for my physical. That will be so fun.  Thank you Mother Earth for being SUNNY and decent today. With the wind, it was less muddy (still muddy) so I could at least let the dogs enjoy the outdoors. Penny was naughty and barking and was grounded to the inside. Typical. Ethan did some work on his go cart. He ended up going to bed early tonight. He was wiped out from being in the fresh air. All the dogs got their nails trimmed. I like doing it outside so I don’t have to worry about cleaning up the toenails. I took Moe for a walk today. He and I got our cardio in. The sun felt nice. The wind was a little obnoxious, but also appreciated to blow the winter funk out of the house. Welcome fresh air! I brought a few loads of wood inside and got the fireplace ready to fire up when it gets chilly again. We still have some cold coming our way. We also have the BAHAMAS coming our way. WOO HOO! Paul got the new mailbox up so we can get mail and it not have it blow away. Yay! 

 My big exciting news for today is that I got a new phone. It is fairly similar to the old phone, just has more memory and is slightly bigger. It too almost 3 hours from start to finish. I had to have small talk that entire time. I survived. I am feeling like a sailboat with no wind lately. I think I am just tired of the weather. Just feeling a bit blah. Hoping Grand Bahama will fix it. I think I just need sunshine and a little adventure for a few days.  Paul has started the replacement of our mangled mailbox. Somehow I bought a mailbox even bigger and more obnoxious than our existing mailbox, which is already comically large. We can fit several medium sized packages in it. I told Paul he now has a place to sleep if I ever kicked him out. Ha! Paul is rigging up a spinning device to help shield it from future snowplow hits.  It was actually warm today. Legit windows open kind of day. The sun was shining, then it poured, then we would see the sun….that kind of day. Avery came over for a bit and she walked Moe with me. It’s still too wet for the shorter dogs. We walked on the road because the yard and field are grass soup. Avery dropped off some laundry. I helped make sure it was all washed and dried. I explained to her that I wasn’t feeling very useful and would love to help her save money by doing a few loads of her laundry. She brought over a couple loads. Ethan had a guy that he worked with come over. Ethan was helping him fix his far. Ethan and this guy were talking about a class that is offered at Ethan’s job. This guy is taking the class and Ethan might consider doing so as well.  That is still “to be determined”. Ethan is worried that he will be too tired to be able to attend 3 hours of class after a full work day. He already gets so tired at work and is exhausted when he comes home. I had ...
