9/12/24

Today was an exciting day. I had some good progress at work. My back has not gotten worse. And the weather was so nice. I was able to do my walking (the only exercise I am approved for and encouraged to do).

My first exciting piece of news was that we found the missing caterpillar that escaped from the monarch enclosure. It had turned into a butterfly. Ethan found the butterfly in the kitchen fluttering about when he got home from work. We shared a laugh as this was something we joked about was going to happen. Look at his smile!

We wondered where the chrysalis was.  Where has it been hiding the past 2 weeks? After looking all over, we found that it had been hiding in plain site.

It was on the ceiling in our kitchen. Who knew? We have a chrysalis that is in progress right now, another caterpillar getting ready to go into chrysalis and then on small caterpillar that has a ways to grow. Ethan also showed me how to sex the monarch.

My second exciting piece of news, with fairly little effort, I was able to trim all of Moe’s toenails. I had a cup of treats and each toenail cut, he got a treat. No one restrained him. He sat still, happily, eating his treats.

I am so proud of him for being brave. I am proud of myself for not giving up on him. I thought he was going to have to be sedated for it. I thought he would NEVER turn into this dog. Nope!

There was no biting. There was no moving. There was no alligator rolling. There was no scream barking. He held still and ate his treats! This is such a big deal. It also shows that we are able to trust one another. He trusted that I was not going to hurt him. I sort of trusted he wouldn’t bite me too hard….well I was hoping that.

He makes a funny squinty face when I hold his paw. It is his “I don’t like it” face. But he did it! Now he can tip toe through the house without clicking.

Look at that beautiful pedicure!
