11/5/24

If Paul and I were being graded on our parenting regarding voting, we would have gotten a 50%. Not quite a passing grade. Luckily we are being graded on a curve (that is what I tell myself). We took both kids numerous times to vote. We explained the process. We explained the issues. We tried. The cool thing is that we are all adults. We are all in charge of our choices and have to respect each other’s choices even if we don’t agree with them.

Ethan chose not to vote. I tried to get him to come with us. He feels like his vote doesn’t matter. He said he hates the electoral college and feels like it causes a barrier for an accurate count. We will continue to advocate voting.

We got to voting very early. Paul suggested we go out to eat afterward. So we had a voting date for breakfast.

I am not going to pass up on a meal. I am not barbaric! We had a nice breakfast at a local diner. I was teasing Paul because he ordered a “western omelette” but instead of ham he wanted sausage and instead of cheddar he wanted provolone. I said it was more like a western Italian omelette.

We had a delightful time chatting about things going on. We live in the same house but sometimes we are just ships passing through the night.

I saw on social media that an old friend is navigating her child’s health issue. I reached out because no one should have to face that alone. Sometimes it is helpful to have your raw feelings validated, and your worries addressed with real life experience.

I met up with an old friend for dinner. We had a margarita and spent time catching up because it had been several months since our last outing. I was able to somewhat comfortably sit. That is improvement from Friday night.

At work, one of the ladies from our campus engagement team, whom I adore, is getting ready for a big trivia event with students and n Thursday night. Myself and another team member volunteered to help with the event. It is my way of giving back to the vet industry. Plus I get to spend the evening with countless students and a great group of ladies. I love this stuff!

What a beautiful day. The weather was so enjoyable. I even did a few laps after dark in our driveway for cardio. The moon was just a sliver and the stars were twinkling overhead.

The fan is in the window as I lay down. I expect my sinuses to be out of whack in the morning. It will be worth the fresh air while we sleep!

Tomorrow I have physical therapy first thing! Fingers crossed I am pushed in a direction where I can continue to gain strength and ease pain.
