12/27/24

I woke up this morning a little bit sore from the fall, but not as bad as I expected. I popped some acetaminophen and moved on.

After work, we went to my in-laws to visit with Paul’s brother and his family. They are in from out of town to visit. Paul’s sister arrived for dinner.

Ethan had to work today and chose not to go. He said that he was going to be tired after work. We respected that. He fell asleep on Christmas Day. With his GFR in the 40’s, he may very well feel tired more often than not. He did choose to go tomorrow and spend the day.

Avery myself and Aunt Julie went to a few stores. We gabbed and chatted the afternoon away.

I set up Nana and Papa’s digital picture frame. I had pictures I loaded. It was fun to watch the slide show.

We had a wonderful dinner. There was so much food. Papa decided to tell a story about his hammer toe.

Paul’s brother, Darren, is a foot doctor. He and his father have discussed the Diiulio hereditary foot issues. Papa shared that his hammer toe has become painful and annoying. His son, the doctor, recommended orthotics as well as supporting and cushioning the toes to offer relief.

Papa shared a story of how he has tried multiple different things to alleviate his pain and to fix his hammer toe issue. The first thing he tried was wrapping his toes. He discovered that he used too much pressure and his feet were even more painful.

He then tried a piece of chocolate so he could shape it to his foot. The chocolate ended up melting and turning gross and that didn’t work.

His next try was using a pecan, I cracked, hard shelled nut to wedge under his toes and cushion them from the pressure. He actually pulled out the pecan to show us.

Darren was shaking his head. He tried to point his father in the right direction. We will see how tomorrow goes.

My bright side was sharing laughs with the entire family.
