Man the weather at night is really wonderful for sleeping. I woke up this morning and took my medications on time to avoid another mid afternoon bread incident.
I started diving into all the hoops we will have to jump through to fight this $12,000 fee. I am not looking forward to it. The worry, the head aches, the frustration…oh my!
I had a dentist appointment this afternoon. I don’t mind going to the dentist because my hygienist rocks! She makes me laugh. We were laughing about how Physical Therapy has become a place to see your friends and meet new ones. You neat 50 and that is the equivalent of a play date. We are all out of shape people in pain. What a delightful group.
It’s kind of like an AA meeting, “Hi, I am Patti, I am here for my back.” Then everyone says “Hi Patti”. We all state our names and ailments. I guess it’s a right of passage?
We were chuckling at the ridiculousness of aging. Anyone that can make you laugh while putting sharp objects in your mouth has a unique gift.
She applied the fluoride treatment which feels like little wool sweaters around each tooth. I am not a fan but understand its value.
Then I was off to the town board meeting. I was meeting Paul there as his moral support. He was presenting his plans for a Barndominium. The meeting started at 6:00 pm. I had a phone screen just before that which I was doing from my car so I could be on time. Nothing like scheduling down to the minute.
5:55 came and Paul still hadn’t arrived.
In a couple there is always someone that is early/on time and always someone chronically late. Paul is chronically late.
6:01 - the meeting starts and the first guy starts sharing his building needs. Where is Paul?
I text him. He is “in the parking lot”. I knew he was going to be called next. The board was wrapping up with guy #1 and I could hear Paul outside the room talking loudly (he’s Italian, it comes natural to him).
They call his name to go next. I was just about to get up and stomp my way over and swing open the door when he walked in. They called his name again.
Paul walked over to me and I said “you are up!”. Pushing him towards the people on the board. I was dying on the inside that he was “late”…even if it was only by 5 or 6 minutes. I didn’t want anything to give anyone a reason to make things any harder for us.
Paul did a great job presenting, he answered all the questions, provided all the plans and they discussed a few changes that needed to be addressed on the inside layout. Things that were no big deal to change/tweak.
They approved the site plans. Yay! Big win! Now the next step is getting a building permit. Phew! We left that building walking a little taller. We also learned we were the first people in our town to purpose building a barndominium. We are unprecedented barndominium people.
When we arrived home I started working on Ethan’s appeal to his $12,200 bill. I filled out necessary paperwork and am collecting some documents.
After that, I did some research on which dermatology offices in Rochester accept Ethan’s insurance. I still need to call and make Ethan an appointment. I tried to get in with a dermatologist that specializes in transplant patients. But they “don’t take our insurance.”
Transplant patients have a significantly higher chance of developing skin cancer due to immunosuppression. So we need to get Ethan established with a dermatologist (yep, another specialist).
After that it was time for the dogs to get outside time. I trimmed a tree’s branches and walked around the yard looking at the different flowers in bloom. The dogs were running around like nimrods.
I feel like we made good progress today!
