8/24/25

A girl’s weekend is so fun. It is full of the right balance of silliness, open floor space to share issues in a supportive environment, and adult beverages.

We woke up this morning and had fun lounging around just chatting. Heather is trained in Reiki and wanted to do a session with both Kim and I (separately).

Reiki is a Japanese spiritual healing technique in which practitioners can help your body heal itself through touch. “Rei” translates to “universe” or “life force,” and “ki” translates to the physical energy of the body (also known as qi); put together, Reiki translates to “universal life force energy.”

Heather shares messages that she receives and says them so we can look up the possible interpretations afterward. She described my head as having energy like the Tasmanian devil. I have had things on my mind about work. That made sense.

She shared a few other things as well that will be helpful reminders for me in the new few weeks.

We started on our trek home. The trip went well. I got to Syracuse, fed Lucy and continued home.

Ethan was nice enough to give me the heads up that a severe thunderstorm was headed toward me. Well he wasn’t kidding.

The clouds became ominous, dark and low to the ground. The wind picked up. I saw some lightening.

I then drove through a curtain of rain and hail. I was suddenly in the middle of this storm. Wow! This is wild. It was so loud. The hail was pinging my car from all angles.

I helplessly just pulled over due to poor visibility. No one was moving on the thruway at this point. We were all getting mercilessly pummeled with rain and hail. I thought the hail was going to break my windshield. I was lucky and it didn’t.

There was about a 10 minute time frame on how long this storm was from first rain drop to last raindrop.

When I arrived home, I saw the damage to my car. Ouch. Paul thinks if we submit it to insurance, they would likely total it. NOOOO! But it is a 2011, so I am just going to drive it and pretend it looks perfect.

I visited my mom and Gene after dinner to pick up a few things. We chatted for a bit as well.
