Plonker! That is a new word I learned today. It is a British term for someone who is stupid. I might adopt this word. It made me laugh. I asked Paul if he had heard the word “plonker” or knew what it meant.
He tried to use it in a sentence and he guessed the meaning.
Me “have you heard of the word Plonker? Can you use it in a sentence?”
Paul thought carefully and after a few seconds replied
“I have to take a huge Plonker?” He said it with an upward inflection like he was asking a question.
“Ewwwww!” I laughed out-loud. I guess it could mean two things. I shared the meaning and we laughed.
I needed the laugh.
Today was a radioactive dumpster fire. This new software change has gone horribly wrong. So many things went poorly with information transfer. At the very least it has been VERY frustrating and counter productive.
It is causing so much extra work and I currently have almost a record high job count. This is the worst.
I mostly said a lot of swear words today. I had a feelings tornado of frustration mixed with annoyance just spinning around in my brain. This is the worst.
I ended up working a few hours late to just try and catch up. That is when I received a gift! The gift of friendship. Sarah stopped by for a few minutes on her way to somewhere else. She listened patiently and I threw up my days problems on her. She then made me laugh. A true gift for the day.
I then started to focus on the good things today. Get this ick of a bad day off my bones.
Here are the things I appreciated.
1. We had a fire in the fireplace that kept the dogs and I warm today.
2. I received a nice thank you card for something I helped a friend with that I didn’t give a second thought to.
3. I had pizza for dinner. (I may have eaten some of my feelings but damn it was good!)
Paul told me he set up an appointment to for me to meet with the gas and electric people to figure out where to place meters and such. The meeting takes place on Friday. I hope I do t seem like too much of a Plonker talking to them.
What a great word!!
