I woke up at 3:30 this morning. Why? That’s a good question. I was having these realistic dreams that I was being presented one unsolvable problem after another. It was frustrating. I must have been so annoyed that I woke up.
Ethan and I packed up to go to the hospital this morning. We had our computers, chargers, snacks and more. We arrived at the hospital and I pulled up to the little ticket booth in the parking garage. It shows you a video of what you look like as you grab your ticket. I was a little startled that my face looked like a crazed serial killer. I actually laughed out loud and how uninviting my face was.
We got checked in and they took Ethan right back. They allowed me to go with him but did share that it is not the typical routine. Ethan did say that he would prefer me to be there.
They had to give Ethan an IV. The ladies were just fawning over Ethan’s veins and how beautiful they were. They hit the IV on the first try! The lady I had spoken to regarding collecting Ethan’s blood sample was there. Blood was collected and shipped to the lab. Everyone was so kind and talked Ethan through the whole thing.
They injected radioactive material in his blood stream (a very small amount) and then were taking pictures of his heart.
I was allowed to sit with him and be present until they were actually taking the pictures. But I could see from the other room.
It took about 3 hours total.
Ethan wowed them with his story and what he went through. I think they were left in awe!
Towards the end, one of the nurses came over while we were picking up our things. Ethan picked up a wrapper from the table and crumbs fell out. He paused and started brushing the crumbs into his hand. He then walked over to the garbage can to throw those things away. This nurse was so impressed and verbally praised him and let him know that her kids wouldn’t do that and they were older than Ethan.
We then headed over for echo. I tried to shove a sandwich into Ethan but there was no time. I told Ethan that I was going to wait in the waiting room for his echo. They typically take an hour.
Barely 20 minutes later, Ethan walks out of the door. He’s done. What? He was so excited. They are super efficient. Yay!
We left and when we got home, I packed up our circus and headed to the in-laws. This is cousins weekend. Paul’s brother and family is in town. It is a really fun weekend.
The rest of the day was spent visiting and laughing. I work part of the day tomorrow, then I can sit back and enjoy. Both kids are going to be present. It should be fun.
Wow, sounds like a great start to the weekend!
