I worked outside for a bit today. I brought the dogs out. They gravitated to laying on the blacktop in the sun. I just watched Jiminy and wondered why he was so absolutely adorable and perfect. He was sleeping with his little toe beans extended, doing “big dog stuff” like napping in the sun.
Jiminy also was keeping me VERY safe by guarding the house. I was lucky to have him keeping me so safe.
5 pounds of furry waiting to be unleashed if the moment presents itself. Ha!
I had one of those moments today where I spoke with a lady that worked at a clinic all of her adult life. She gained her position from a family member and now after 12 years is ready to part ways due to frustration.
She ended up on the other end of the call with me. I listened to her all-too-familiar sequence of her career and how her frustration has been building and she was at her breaking point.
While we talked about what she is looking for, it seemed she needed someone to listen too. Her presentation was sub par as she was SO frustrated, she just needed to get it out.
I have been in her very shoes and could identify with her situation. I spent an hour on the phone listening and validating her. 30 minutes of that was my “lunch”. These calls should take about 15 -20 minutes.
She was very negative about her current employer. She had to share all the small details that have built up to become big details. It didn’t make her a bad person. I realized she had never had a real interview before.
I told her I would pass along her information. I offered her some thoughtful and gentle feedback of keeping her answers short and focusing on the position they are offering and not how terrible her current situation is.
“Practice your answer….keep it short and professional. Why are you thinking about leaving your current position?….. say something like because I would like more opportunities to grow, or it doesn’t feel like a good fit anymore…or circle back to the current position….i like that your clinic works with pocket pets.” We went over keeping things simple and not elaborating unless asked….but still keep it professional.
Damn it! Now I am completely vested in her success. I want to know updates. I peaked at her in our system several times to see if the Practice Manager called her. I have developed a back up solution for her and even googled the commute to make sure it was do-able.
We will see what happens with her. I hope in some small way that she gets to a place she can thrive.
After work I made chicken wing dip. Yum! I am freezing it to have over the week of the 4 th. That way I can share it.
I ran an errand this evening. While I was gone, Ethan texted me about a little bunny he had noticed sitting under our car. He was worried it could have been abandoned.
When I arrived home, I saw where it was. Cutest little thing. I told Ethan that we can watch it but it is best to leave it alone. The Mom’s are close by even if you can’t see them. Baby’s only need to nurse once or twice a day. Momma bunnies have some very rich milk that keeps the babies growing. If for some reason the mom is a crack whore mom that just left her babies while she is feeding her drug addiction, at the age the bunny is, it would survive.
Paul had some of the guys over. I crashed their party and had a few beers. They are good company and a funny group. I enjoyed sitting outside on suck a nice night.!
