8/21/25

This morning I scheduled some catch up time as a way to be kind to myself. It was quite kind and I appreciated my two days ago self for doing that.

I tackled another confusing, burdensome day with all the new changes at work. There was less swearing, so that is good. I am so glad people aren’t there to watch my tantrums.

During a phone call, the mail truck pulled in and shortly after, my doorbell rang. The dog security team was on it, alerting me with their voices of eminent danger. I had to quick mute my phone so they wouldn’t deafen the person on the other end.

The nice thing about talking to people in the veterinary medicine field, they have pets too and understand.

I ignored the doorbell and continued with my call.  Afterward, I went outside and found I had a delivery. I have a standing order of certain snacks for Paul and Ethan that are much cheaper on auto ship than in the store.

One of the boxes contained 3 laundry detergent bottles and a package of dryer sheets. One of the detergent bottles had been punctured and there was detergent all over. There was a line on the driveway, all the other boxes were soaked in it. What a dang mess!

It looked like someone tried to contain the mess by placing the box into a plastic bag. The bag was leaking.

I was annoyed. I couldn’t bring any of the boxes in because they had been soaked in detergent. I had to unpack the boxes in the driveway and carry the items around the side of the house to the door.

Here are the positive things I noted. My driveway smelled wonderfully fresh AND I was counting this as exercise. I figured if I unpacked each box quickly and carried in the items quickly it would raise my heart rate and count as cardio. If my neighbors were watching they probably thought I needed to be committed or was on speed.

Afterward had to get the hose out and rinse off the driveway. The laundry detergent seemed to stain it. There were suds everywhere, but smelled lovely.

I ended up just throwing the boxes away….which I felt guilty for not recycling. With that process, detergent was splattered all over me, m face and all down the front of the garbage can. So I hosed the can off too. More suds.

Then, I had to report the issue. I went through the prompts and chose the one for damage to container and item. It took me right to the  return and replace page. Nope! I am NOT going to return a leaky, soupy mess.

When Paul got home, he asked me if I had given the dogs a bath. I told him about the laundry detergent debacle.

I ended up having to join a chat and things were resolved quickly and I was satisfied with the outcome. Perfect, time to move forward. Accidents happen. I wish it didn’t take up an hour of my time, but it’s almost Friday. Tomorrow this annoyance will be just another problem solved.

After work I drove to Syracuse to kick off my weekend with Heather. We are driving to Pennsylvania to visit a friend and go lazy river tubing down a river.

The drive was uneventful. Just the way I like it.

Check out this mess:

This was to show the trail of detergent down my driveway. Jiminy was helping.

All of the bottoms of the boxes were soaked.

  1. Wonder what the other packages in the delivery truck look like.

    1. Exactly. Someone else’s packages were probably covered in detergent, but smelled pleasant.
