8/4/25

Ugh! Today was the Monday-est Monday I have had in a long time. I had 6 interviews reschedule and even though that freed up 3 hours of time, I still ended up working 3 hours late.

Early afternoon I realized that I had forgotten to take my ADHD medication. No big deal, I had made it almost 48 years without it. I decided to just skip today so that it wouldn’t goof up my sleeping, otherwise I don’t sleep well.

I stepped away from my computer mid afternoon for a few minutes and heard my coworker calling me. I quick ran to my computer and answered. She was asking me questions about her expense report. CRAP! I forgot to do mine.

I even had it on my list and I still forgot. How did that happen? What was I doing when I stepped away you ask? Preparing to bake a loaf of jalepeno bread. I got side tracked. I guess those meds do help keep me on track.

I did end up submitting it but had to work a bit later due to my poor decision to bake a loaf of bread in the middle of the afternoon when no one was home to eat it.

Paul stayed late at work as he is having a long and involved week working on a project with a few other guys. I had a sandwich ready for him to eat on the bread I made FOUR hours earlier (it was no longer warm).

We then left to go to Avery’s apartment. I had another bin and a chair to take her. We also had to collect a mini fridge from the town home she has been living in this summer on campus.

When we arrived, Paul helped he secure the legs on her outdoor table with the drill. She asked him for help troubleshooting her speakers for the TV. She was frustrated that she couldn’t figure it out. He helped figure out the connection issue while I played with baby kitty, Pluto. I also helped by putting a marker in Paul’s crack when he was bent over. He didn’t appreciate that.

Avery is doing a great job of transitioning into adulthood with this move. I have sympathy for her. It is hard navigating your first apartment, renter’s insurance, setting up WiFi, working together with your partner to figure out how to work together to get things done. I remember navigating it with Paul. We didn’t have much money and had to be very frugal. Avery thrifts all the time and is very thoughtful with her finances.

They have started adding things to their walls to make things look more like a “home”. Avery’s silly and cute personality revealed itself when we walked in and her appliances had googly eyes. They made me smile.

We finished up helping. It took longer than we anticipated, but I am glad we were able to help. It is nice to be close.

Tomorrow night is the town board meeting and we are hoping we will finally be able to move forward with plans to add the barn on our field as a space for Ethan. Wish us luck.
