I am not someone who enjoys eating, or smelling things that live under the water being served as food. None of it….with the exception of fried clams. The caveat is that the fried….to clam…ratio has to be “just perfect”. More fried, less clam.
The Shorline Lobster bake did not make me want to eat lobster. Watching people pull apart the lobster and avoid “the green stuff” that oozed all over the plate while using utensils I had never seen before (because I don’t like sea food). They were getting “lobster juice” on their hands, clothes, anything that was around. It was neither graceful nor appetizing.
Lobster water was leaking out of the lobster anytime a lobster was manipulated to try and crack it open. Shooting and dripping all over ALL surrounding areas.
I was trying to figure out what “the green stuff” was. Is it poop? Liquified organs? Nope! I had to google it. It is called Tomalley. It acts as the lobster’s liver and pancreas. So it literally filters toxins all day long. Apparently some people eat and enjoy the taste of “the green stuff”.
The jokes the men had about the smell of their hands after cracking open the lobster were quite entertaining and immature. I did enjoy those. I laughed each time one was made.
I am more of a “work less” to eat your food kind of person. I don’t want to solve a puzzle to try to get my food out of an exoskeleton. That is what it looked like people were doing to me, a complicated puzzle.
I don’t understand why people enjoy eating a food that you need to dip into butter with each bite to make it “taste better”. You don’t do this with other meats.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone was thrilled to eat the lobster and enjoyed it very much. I focused on the sides. Those were all delicious. So many choices….and the desserts….totally yummy.

Craig was cracking open his lobster and it just seemed so messy.

Our one neighbor said last weekend he was bringing Amish potato salad to this event. He brings this anytime there is a meal with a dish to pass. I was able to take his picture and use AI to turn him into an Amish guy holding a pitchfork, with a beard. I taped it on his potato salad. He laughed.
Some of the men were having rubber band wars trying to shoot each other with the rubber bands that go around the lobster claws.
Paul brought over our slushie machine and that was a hit! We went through 6 batches of slushie. 288 oz of slushie with quite a selection of liquor to mix in.

The sunset was beautiful. Lots of reds, oranges and pinks danced across the sky.

I took the dogs for a walk to see the Harvest moon.

After dark, the fire came on. It was a gas fire. We sat around and chatted and laughed.
Then the music came on. Sharing inappropriate songs and giggling. There may have been some dancing.
If you fell asleep some of us were taking selfies with you and you will get a copy of those tomorrow.
The group was loud, chatty and full of laughter. We chatted about all sorts of subjects. As the evening went on the drinks flowed. There were a few people that had just a touch too much to drink. Luckily there was no driving and it wasn’t too far of a walk.
Sounds like a fun, perfect ending to a great summer and the gorgeous sunset and harvest moon as a backdrop drop 🌖
