Ethan’s Journey

​Sunday is departing day. I decided to enjoy the day and stay longer.  The lake is warm. I don’t say things like this. But it is true! We went out on the boat. Sarah and I also took the paddle boards out. The lake was smooth! Sarah found a duck that I hid in her camper last year. He he! Speaking of ducks, my nephew is moving out of his apartment and found a duck I hid there almost 2 years ago. He texted me about it today and it made me laugh! We swam around in the lake for a while. I like to get a tube and just kick around. It’s great non-weight bearing exercise. Craig took the boys out fishing. John didn’t catch anything yesterday. Today he caught a small fish. Sarah felt sorry for him and used AI to make his fish much bigger. What a good wife. I finally left a little after 3. It is a little over 3 hour drive. Apparently, spending the day in the sun makes me tired. When I got home, I unpacked. I headed to bed around 8:00. 

​Another beautiful day on the lake. Sarah arrived. We sat in the double tube and chatted for part of the afternoon. We went on a couple walks. For dinner we had wings done to perfection on the grill, pizza, garlic knots, grilled veggies and salad. Yum! After dinner, we took a jet ski ride around Fox island. We parked at a cute little cove and had a beverage. We got the fire started and watched another beautiful sunset. There are so many monarch butterflies around. I might have to look for the caterpillars and try to bring one to Ethan. He has always enjoyed watching them go through the process and change into a butterfly. There is a killdeer nest on the road. Killdeer are cool birds. They are kind of dumb in that they build their nests in gravel where people and vehicles could accidentally smash them.  But so smart that when you go near their nest, they run away and fake a broken wing, to lure you away from the nest. ​today was my day off. Yay! It started to shape into a nice morning. I watched the geese and their geese children swimming happily. Their little butts were wagging back and forth.  There is this poor single mom duck with at least 20 babies. You can tell she is tired, but being the best Mom she can be. She was diving, showing the babies how to do dive for their food. She also was running on water. Those babies would run on water right behind her. It made a slapping sound. I find the noise of 20 baby ducks running on water….delightdul. Paul and I took the jet-ski’s. We went to a beach that we have dubbed “Walmart Beach”. We hung out with some neighbors. In the water and had some beverages in the sun. We call it “Walmart Beach” because a lot of the people look like the people of Walmart. We then took the jetski’s up the river almost to Clayton. Look at this goofball laying in the sun!  Is it just people from New York that refer to Pennsylvania as “PA”? This seems to be the only state we do this with. We don’t “I am driving through VA” for Virginia. So weird the stuff we do. I woke up tired this morning. Coffee was barely a help. I plugged through the day longing for a solid nap, but no nap came my way. Boo! After work, we visited on the neighbor’s deck. It was overcast with some grumbling in the sky. It sprinkled for about 5 minutes or less. This week’s weather has been exceptionally great! I was talking all day long with my trainee. I really like her. Her training wheels come off Monday. I set up a few meetings throughout the day on Monday with her to walk through any questions she may have. On Monday, I am walking away from Hospital Managers I have worked with for 4 years. ​I made it through another day at work. Looking forward to this weekend and a visit with Sarah. Phil left today. Ethan plans to leave tomorrow. He wanted to go on the antique boat. After work, we headed over to Clayton, NY to the Antique Boat Museum. We got a special invite to ride on the Zipper. This boat started being built in the 1940’s and took about 30 years to finish. It had a smooth mahogany body and was 41 feet long. There was an interior part to the boat. The bathroom and extra seating was there. We went around grindstone Island, went up, passed over to the Canadian side, went under the thousand Island bridge, looped around and came back to Clayton hugging Wellesley Island. The sights were amazing. It was a 360 degree view of awe and nature’s beauty. There were such big a beautiful houses. People with more money that I will ever make in a lifetime. Afterward we had a late dinner at a local restaurant. We were all quite tired when we got home (a little after 10:00….way past my ...

 I felt very sorry for myself having to work today. (Don’t feel that sorry for me). I took advantage of the breeze and sat out at the lake for the majority of the day. Ethan and Phil went in the lake but mostly enjoyed the day by doing nothing. This was my office view today. I sat in the shade and stayed cool. Ethan carried around Jiminy and rocked him in the hammock. Jiminy LOVED it! My work day was a mad dash to try and do everything but not succeeding. Maybe next week? Next week I will be handing over my territories and relocate to my territories in the North.  Paul fluttered around like a busy bee washing the camper, moving stone, washing Lois and Craig’s camper, dismantling the old dock, mowing, weed whacking and more. He made time to go in the lake and wash off his sweat too! In between calls I was able to take the dogs up the road a couple times for a walk. I am far more active here. ​today’s weather was amazing! A great day for a boat ride. I took the dogs for a walk and had some coffee. I was glad to have the day off.  Avery and Kendall left this morning to go back to reality. Penny and Moe got to run along side me on the bike. They love this because it is all off leash. They are breathing quite heavy at the end. So am I. I took Moe for a ride in the paddle boat. He loves it. He was not a good helper. He didn’t even help me paddle one time. We went out on the boat and anchored off of Fox Island. Rick came over and tied his boat up to us. The boys took turns riding the jet ski’s. They also hung out at the island for quite some time. The boys chatted, razzed each other and whole heartedly laughed at themselves. It was fun to listen to. I always remember in moments like these that this is something I feared I would miss at one point. I wasn’t sure if I would ever get to talk to Ethan again. I am glad for him to have these moments.
