Take 2 5/4/24

1:39 am…..wide awake! Not ready to go back to sleep for an hour and some change. My mind just wandered…remember that time when…. My mind just wandered. I let it continue for about 20 minutes before ai decided to finally get up. It was the promise of coffee that did it for me. Our flights, customs and more went well. We had Mr. poop Mouth, whose breath was rancid. He sat next to me on the plane. He kept huffing and puffing spreading his poopy laced hot air into my space. Paul and I were discussing trading seats because the poop breath was so significant.  Luckily he changed his own seat. He ended up sitting in front of Andy and Diane. Poor Andy kept smelling the poop breath and couldn’t figure out what it was coming from. We got off the plane and it was warm and humid! The weather is beautiful.. we picked up some things at the local grocery store. When we got to our rental house, we appeared to be in the “locals” section of town. The beach is a close walk. Our house is nice, spacious

We had our island tour today. I am glad we planned it this way. We went around the entire 6 mile wide, 20 mile Long Island. We saw many of the popular sights. We started at the slow farm. We learned how Aloe is farmed, harvested and the different ways it can be used. As we were standing there, the tour guide cut the end off the aloe leaf.   The girl in front of me stunk of BO…but it wasn’t quite BO, it was a mixture of BO and spicy beans.  Turns out, the smell wasn’t from the girl at all. It was the concentrated aloe sap. As the tour continued, we learned that the island is under Dutch law. The Dutch have their ducks in a row as far as crime goes. There is a 2 % crime rate on the island. If you are caught stealing, it is a minimum of 5 years in prison. None of this appearance ticket stuff. We also learned that each bar has 4 prostitutes. This cuts down the number of rapes on the island. Prostitution is legal and the prostitutes get free health checks every other day. They come from o

The day didn’t go fast enough. We spent the evening finishing up business around the house, getting things set for Ethan and Avery if she pops home, and Ethan’s friends…as we will likely have other people here. We don’t mind. We like Ethan’s friends and we trust him. Plus keeps Ethan and the dogs company. I noticed that Paul started his packing by bringing down all of his clothes and setting them on a chair. It seemed like a big pile. We will have a washer and dryer available to us. It is interesting how Paul packs. My method is to bring enough for a few days and then do laundry. Paul’s method is to pack like we don’t have laundry available AND he is going to crap his pants daily so he had enough underwear “just in case”. As I started laying the clothes out, I noticed that he had 7 pairs of shorts. 3 pairs were grey. He had several t-shirts. 2 red ones. Then I found this white shirt with yellowed arm pit stains, holes in it, stains all over it. It appeared that he had painted wearing

I started my day off with a piece of rhubarb pie that my mom made. Yum! It was so good. Ethan had a piece in the fridge waiting. I wanted to eat his too.  Today felt long. Probably because I am excited to leave. Paul finally packed some of his clothes. He was very concerned about putting mulch down this week. We have different priorities. Ha ha! This evening Penny was keeping us entertained with her silly antics. She thinks she should sleep in our bed. Last night she was a chaotic disaster. She was itching and rolling all over the bed. In the covers, out of the covers, by my face, by my feet. She was so active. Tonight she is sleeping in the confines of her crate.  A friend of mine is donating her kidney tomorrow to her friend’s dad. She will be heavily in my thoughts.

Happy 25 th anniversary to Paul and I. Yay! It is hard to believe 25 years went by. It was fast, yet slow. We were able to navigate some pretty tough times. Having a sickly kid can be a cause of a lot of additional stress. Plus we were kids when we got married, so we had to learn to adult together. We went to dinner at our favorite restaurant and were not disappointed. Yum! Our service was great! Food and drinks were delicious! This place is a well oiled machine! The bathrooms are ALWAYS clean and smell fresh AND it is a Mexican restaurant. Paul has not started packing for our trip yet. We are so different in that way. My suitcase is ready to go and has been for the past almost 2 weeks. I am minding my own business. He is an adult and is capable of doing it his way. The weather was pleasant. I keep hearing a pulsated woodpecker. I have blue jays and cardinals at my bird feeders. Paul made me laugh several times at dinner. All of those were my bright side today.

4/30/24

I had an insurance issue with Avery’s coverage last fall. Of course I do. So after several phone calls and some digging, I found that there was a mistake on my employers end. I am due a refund. Yay! It was worth the 4 phone calls and couple emails that were sent. I had a headache the majority of the day. It wasn’t terrible, more so nagging. I blame the weather. Jiminy and I decided to take a nap to see if that helped. It did help me…I think Jiminy liked it too. He is a professional napper. He might try out for the napping Olympics. He’s a strong gold contender. Tonight was another fantastic night of Bingo. I picked Avery up and we met a friend there. This time we were smarter and arrived 30 minutes early. We stood in a line to get our boards for about 20 minutes. There was a nice mixture of people there tonight. It was a less aggressive crowd than last time. There were no words exchanged or almost fights. I was surprised at the seriousness of some of the Bingo goers. One lady had her

I woke up early and went straight to work. 4:30 am. Luckily it was in my livingroom. I needed to fill my schedule for the rest of the week. After Friday, I won’t be interviewing for a week. My plan is to send as many candidates to the clinics as I can so they at least have people they are working with while I am gone. I tried to turn on the new Elisabeth Moss show, the Veil, but I can’t access it until tomorrow. I really like her and her expressions. She can be so beautiful, but bad ass, but also so pissy. I packed up Paul’s carry on with snacks. This was to satisfy my own anxiety. Paul satisfied his own anxiety by purchasing a huge mound of mulch. He wants to put a bunch of mulch down before we leave. I went to the eye doctor today. I have a slight blurriness. I notice it most when watching tv. We just switched insurances. I was certain that we had vision insurance, but the lady said no. I told her that I wasn’t sure why she couldn’t find it, but that I would go home and find my paper
