Sometimes I prank Paul, but it isn’t even intentional. This morning, Ethan and I were in the kitchen doing our morning routine. Paul saw a container of “cookies” I had made. There were two different colors of cookies.
“No offense, but I tasted the cookies you made last night and they were nasty.” He said.
“I tried both colors, and they were not good. What kind of cookies are those?”
It’s not like Paul to turn his nose up at anything I make, but here is the thing….I didn’t make cookies.
“What cookies?” I asked
“The different color cookies in the container.” He points to the container.
The container, held cheese crisps I had made. I was experimenting with different cheeses. Mid afternoon, I like a crunchy snack. I took cubes of cheese and melted them. I also tried it with cottage cheese which Paul despises. The mention of cottage cheese makes him gag.
“That is melted cheeses” I started laughing. He immediately started gagging and going in a downward spiral of questions while Ethan and I were hysterically laughing that he just eats things without even knowing what they are.
“Did you smell it before you ate it?” I said in between laughs.
He, in fact, did not.
He was doing his evening food woodchipping and just slammed it in his mouth.
“So you tried one color and it was nasty, so you tried the other color?” I asked trying to figure out the thought process. The more I thought about it, the funnier it became. He was not impressed, but maybe this was a lesson he needed in his life.
It was a great way to start my very busy Monday.
I was able to connect with a dietician that specializes in kidney failure. She offered up some information. I do have more specific questions. I would like to read the documents she sent more closely to make sure my questions aren’t answered in the information she sent over. That would be a great way to annoy someone right?
I make some lemon chicken with rice and brussel sprouts flavored with a sweet and spicey honey glaze. I salted nothing. The chicken was made with sherry and cooked lemon slices. The rice was flavored with seasonings (no salt) and each little Tupperware got 8 half brussel sprouts. This will be the majority of Ethan’s potassium for the day.
It will be tricky. The more I can make, the better off Ethan will be.
thank you for the early morning laugh! I needed that - I can only imagine Paul's face when he tasted them - twice!
ReplyDeletethat meal sounds delicious and it's cool how you can season things without salt and make it so flavorful still.
Paul’s face was exactly how you imagined it. Hilarious! I also stumbled across some salt and sugar free condiments. I am on the fence. They sound kinda gross. But I will likely get them.
