6/22/25

We had a WILD bout of storms go through last night. The lightening was back to back like I had never seen before. I believe it was raining sideways with gale force winds.

This morning, we assessed the damage. There were branches and sticks from healthy trees blown right off with the sheer force of the wind. Our one bench chair was blown to the next property over.

We wrapped things up at camp and headed home. The heat is real. Paul mowed but it was too hot to do much of anything else outside.

All the dogs got their Sunday bath and new bedding whether they needed it or not. Spoiler alert, they needed it. The fur that came out with the bath was bountiful. Everyone also got a nail trim and nail dremel to soften those sharp edges. Doggy spa day.

I started to do the piles of laundry as I emptied the dog crates at camp for fresh new blankets the next time. I will be doing laundry around the clock for the next day or so.

Tomorrow Ethan has his medication adjustment appointment. We will see how that goes. I also have to prepare for his in person meeting with the disability office coming up in the next few weeks.

I am excited that Avery is bringing their partner, Kendall camping. Kendall and Avery have been dating a little over a year. We love Kendall. Avery is excited to share camp with Kendall. Kendall is usually working their butt off and has not been able to come up to camp and experience its charm.

Avery is non-binary. This is not new information for me.  That means they don’t identify as male or female specifically, but is their gender kind of falls in between male and female.

I don’t really like to get caught up in the details, but will try to do my best to become proficient with pronouns. Avery also understands that people may forget and she is very relaxed about it.

I am trying to get the hang of using correct pronouns. Avery is so good and knows that I love them no matter what. I want to make Avery and Kendall comfortable and shared I would try my best.

Thinking about using correct pronouns only pops up into my thoughts about 5 % of the time.  That 5 % is when I am around Kendall and Avery. Avery is surrounded by people with different pronoun preferences 90% of the time so for Avery it feels more natural.

Here are my thoughts on all of it. I have a kid who has found someone they love and that treats them right.  Someone the brings a smile to Avery’s face, someone that challenges Avery, supports Avery and is kind. That is really all a parent wants for their kid in the relationship department.

Avery is kicking butt in school, has a good group of friends and someone that loves them. I am proud of Avery and just want to see them thrive! At the end of the day….Avery is my mini me. I will stand by their side and cheer them on no matter what.

  2. You're doing great, just keep doing your best and expressing your love. I honestly wish we used neutral pronouns for everyone, for now we'll just enjoy and honor the Avery's of the world!
