6/25/25

Paul woke up mostly on the right side of the bed. Phew! We all have bad days. He had a relatively good day at work. Yay!

He started working in the yard and heard a funny noise from our air conditioner. He pulled it apart and found that it was almost all the way clogged with debris.

Out came the shop vac and he worked at cleaning it up. Maybe it will work a little better for us now.

My company is experiencing a merger. Today was a hard day as our leadership had to make the decisions to cut people across the board. It’s a merger and with those there is always change.

As a great fraternity I know says “To change is to survive.”

One person on my team was eliminated. I feel sad about it but understand how all this works. Due to the nature of the corporate beast, casualties happen. My goal is to survive them. The corporation was kind with their severance packages. I genuinely like what I do and feel like I am helping people. I like the flexibility of my position and it allows me to be present for Ethan and his medical needs.

I walk away thankful that I can continue doing what I do, knowing nothing is promised for tomorrow. I have made peace with that too. If the time ever comes where I am on the chopping block, I know it won’t be because I am a bad employee. It will be because life is sending me in a different direction.

It’s funny how life teaches you things along the way. I try to be reflective to find the lessons I am supposed to learn. I am sure I have missed a few of them along the way. But I have collected a lot of them, so that is a win.

Sarah came to stay tonight. It is funny how being with a good friend makes time stop and erases stress. Laughter is the best medicine….big pharma can’t market that and charge 5000% for it. Ha!

Just a few more days until “vacation”.

  1. Oh no... I'm so sorry to hear about your work troubles. It is truly a rocky time in so many sectors. My position just made it thru some city layoffs and it's humbling. It's really troubling and unsettling when good/great workers are let go. Keep riding the wave! Truly, "to change is to survive." xoxo
