this morning Paul was peeking at someone at the end of their dock. We were trying to figure out who the person was.
“You can’t just use binoculars and become a peeping Paul on the shoreline They can see you. It looks weird!” I said.
“What else are binoculars for?” He asked.
“Unbelievable! You look like a creep.” I chastised
This moment was brought to you by Sarah.
Turns out, they weren’t even Paul’s binoculars. They were the neighbor’s. The neighbor recognized them and asked for them back after seeing our Facebook post…..hilarious! Klepto Paul!
We went out on the boat and went swimming for a while. The water really warms up in the afternoon.

Sarah and John’s daughter, Brooke, and boyfriend went out on the paddle boards. We then decided tubing was a good idea.
Sarah, Brooke and myself went tubing. I was nervous but Paul promised to go slow. The three of us were on the tube. Things were going fine for the first minute and a half. Then Sarah fell off. We circled around and grabbed her.
It was a bit of a struggle for her to get back on the tube, but it is because as I was trying to help her, the handle she was reaching for was under my knee. I sabotaged her.
She finally got up on it and we took our positions once again.
I didn’t really thing it was that much fun because water was splashing in my face. I briefly thought about wearing goggles. Ha!
Once Paul started going again, he started turning. That is when things went sideways.
Sarah fell off first. She was the middle rider. Brooke and I were holding the tube down. Brooke fell off next. Cool! I am still on…until I wasn’t.
I could feel the tube flying in the air and I let go to save myself. I had no idea which way was up. I hit the water with my open eyeballs first. “I can’t see!” My eyes stung.
People do this for fun?
Paul circled back and got me first. My eyes stung so much I couldn’t open them. I was rubbing them furiously. It didn’t last for too long, but it also felt like it lasted forever.
The damn tube had flipped over. I had to turn over this 3 person device by myself. I did it! Yay!
I was able to pull myself up on the tube and I told Paul I didn’t like it and to drive near the dock. I was going to roll off and swim to shore.
We picked up Brooke and Sarah. Brooke is young and was able to wiggle her teenage body back onto the tube in a flash.
Sarah got up pretty quick as well now that I wasn’t sabotaging her.
As we got closer to the dock, I did a tuck and roll off the tube. I swam part way in and then let my lifejacket keep me just floating in the water. Ahhhhh! This feels nice. The water felt like bath water.
I prefer the “redneck tubing” Sarah and I used to do with the kids when they were much younger. We convinced them it was so fun. We put them in the paddle boat and Sarah and I would be in tubes.
They would tow us around using the paddle boat. It was harder for them because they were towing two adults around. It tired them out. We sat on the tubes enjoying a beverage….ahhhh the good ole days.
I will be 49 years old in a few days. I am satisfied that I tried it and even fell off…..but was able to still do it without breaking something.
We had a nice fire but everyone had to get up fairly early to go to work. The earliest alarm was set at 4:00am. Yikes! Sarah and I were the last ones at the fire. It was a nice evening.
Ha! Ha! Your description of tubing is priceless. Who came up with this activity? It always gave me high anxiety and stress as a kid. My father (you know him) would find it hysterical when we all flew off the tube and skidded along the water. We had a long yellow banana looking tube at one point and I recall yelling to my brother in sheer terror to "lean! lean! lean! to avoid us flipping over. If you ask me, it was not fun at all. Ha! Ha! xoxo
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your final day of being 48! That sounds real nice... especially when I'm looking down the barrel at 50. Huh? xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnd that picture of you yelling at Paul being a creep, is priceless. Just priceless.
