Ethan’s Journey

Yesterday was the last day of classes for Avery. She had a party in the physics department. She will also be inducted into the the Physics Honor Society! She is blazing some trails! Next week she has finals and then it is off to her externship! Whirlwind for sure! Today with the time difference, we deplaned at 7am. We decided to pull an all nighter and just go out and explore the city.  We dropped our bags at the hotel and off we went towards  Torvehallerne market. This is a fresh food market with little places you can buy food. To get there was about a miles walk.   We walked along the sidewalks of busy roads and beautiful architecture to the medieval part of town. Everything was so exciting. There were SO many bikes. There is a big biking culture here. They have bike lanes that are utilized. If you aren’t careful, you can get hit by a bike. The sun was warm and we didn’t need jackets. ​ I scrambled to get my work done today. I kept getting offers that needed to go out. I think I put out at least 6 or 7 offers. I had my last meeting and went to lunch. Melissa and David picked me up at the hotel and we went to lunch. Then it was time for the airport. The drive there was through Boston city roads and a bit chaotic, but we made it.  I stopped at a public restroom. I paused and hoped it wasn’t disgusting. It wasn’t terrible. I went into the stall and locked it. I “took care of business” and tried to unlock the door. The handle of the lock was just spinning in a circle and the stall was NOT unlocking. I paused for a moment. I could crawl under the door but then vomited in my mouth at the thought. The only option was to scale the bathroom door. I texted Melissa and David that I was stuck. I tied using things in my purse to get movement on the lock.    After some panicked rattling of the door it finally opened. Well I hated that! Now I have an unreasonable fea...

  One of the things I enjoy about being short is that I don’t ever feel too cramped in the leg room department on an airplane. I arrived at the airport compliments of my Aunt and Uncle, safely and even a few minutes early. I met up with my nephew and visited for about an hour and a half. It was a great visit and I totally enjoyed it. I headed to my flight and sat next to a delightful, elderly couple. The lady was worried that my bag was too heavy for me. She was so cute. My flight to Boston was delayed by a few minutes and was relatively uneventful. There were no bad smells, no chronic cougher’s, no one trimmed their toe nails. Even the people on the plan were courteous getting off the plane. The guy I sat next to was perfect. He had headphones on and we didn’t speak a word to one another.  Perfect! I got to the hotel and finished working around 9 pm. It was a long day but I was happy that I was able to get so much accomplished.

 After work today I did my final selections for my trip. I was pleased that I had enough room for my comfy boots. I was just going to bring one pair of shoes (with arch support) but now I can bring a second pair. Yay! I made sure I brought enough layers to support the menopause hot flash in the event on happens on the plane, I can strip down. But also stay warm because planes can be chilly. I have my compression socks for the long flight on Friday night, the aspirin to avoid blood clots. I have all my medications and supplements plus the medications in the event I eat something that doesn’t agree with me. Allergy pills in case they have some wonky pollen. Traveling as a middle aged lady is hard! Tomorrow I will be working from the airport and the hotel and scurrying to finish up work things so I can relax and pass the torch to my co-worker while I am away.  My bright side today is that I made an appointment for Ferguson to get his cataract looked at and see if he is a candidate for surgery. He is a crusty old dog but I love him and expect him to have a few years left. If she could see better it would make his life easier. Why does he have a cataract you ask? From Trauma to the eye. He started a fight with our 3.5 pound rabbit twice and got his butt handed to him TWICE. It has not shaken his confidence in the least. I haves learned so much from him. He has taught me how to understand chihuahua’s. They are small and mighty. They arrive with fists swinging and asking questions later just to survive. Part of this bright side was that the veterinary ophthalmologist that he is going to see, I met when she was in 9 th grade. I got to watch her grow within the veterinary profession. She watched my kids for me when they were young. We visited her family farm many times when the kids were little.  She was there when Ferguson was just a ba...

 This morning I woke up with a migraine. It made my stomach feel nauseous. This happens when I don’t drink enough but could also be a combination of allergies too.. So I pushed the fluids, added electrolytes and began dreading SSA meeting. Ethan and I had a conversation about him feeling like he is being kicked down. He is frustrated. I don’t blame him. He went off to work with his head hung low. When he got to work, he started venting via text. He said he is tired of dealing with disappointment after disappointment and feels like he has lost his ability to feel joy. Ugh! I hated reading that. I reassured him that we weren’t going to let him fall and would be close by in the event he needed help. We were trying to set him up for success. I vented to Sarah that I wasn’t feeling well, Ethan was down in the dumps and it was a crappy way to start a Monday. Bah humbug! She then shared her Monday started with catching herself on FIRE! As a good friend would do, I laughed out loud. Geez! ...
