Yesterday was the last day of classes for Avery. She had a party in the physics department. She will also be inducted into the the Physics Honor Society! She is blazing some trails!
Next week she has finals and then it is off to her externship! Whirlwind for sure!
Today with the time difference, we deplaned at 7am. We decided to pull an all nighter and just go out and explore the city.
We dropped our bags at the hotel and off we went towards Torvehallerne market. This is a fresh food market with little places you can buy food. To get there was about a miles walk.
We walked along the sidewalks of busy roads and beautiful architecture to the medieval part of town. Everything was so exciting. There were SO many bikes. There is a big biking culture here.
They have bike lanes that are utilized. If you aren’t careful, you can get hit by a bike.

The sun was warm and we didn’t need jackets. We went in little shops here and there just to see fun souvenirs. We walked around a flea market and took funny pictures of signs. We laughed.

When we finally reached the market, Melissa ordered the famous Duck Confit sandwich. I ordered something that I thought was going to be a salad, but was about 12 pieces of arugula, some baguettes and a delicious cheese with tomato’s and croutons on it. I was not upset with my choice.
The duck sandwich was pretty good!

We saw some really yummy pastries but I ended up choosing a dessert of gelato. It was hand made right there and again, was not upset with my choice. At this point, we had pretty much been up for 24 hours and decided a taxi back to the hotel was a far superior idea.
As we continued walking around to find a taxi, we stumbled upon the round tower. The Round Tower was finished being built in 1642. It has a hallow center. It is known for its impressive ramp that was built for horses to carry scientific equipment to the top because it was an observatory. It twirled around 7 1/2 times. We walked it and enjoyed the view of the city the higher we climbed. At the end of the ramp, We ended up walking these tiny wedge shaped stairs to the very top.
The last 2 minute hike up the steep stairs was a bit terrifying. You have to be small and handle narrow course.
The ramp was impressive. The bricks were so old and a little uneven on the floor. I just kept thinking about the last 300 + years and who has walked on them.

One wrong step and you would knock out all the people behind you.
We sat near the entrance to the platform and realized the word “wow!” Was the same in almost every language. It was fun to see others react to the impressive view.
But after climbing 7 1/2 twirls up, our legs and feet were TIRED. We headed back to the hotel for a quick 4 hour nap before dinner.
We set our alarms and woke up, brushed teeth and went to dinner. We went to a cozy little casual restaurant that David picked. It was almost a mile away. We are getting our steps in.
Our meals were great! We left and headed over to Tovoli. Tovoli is the oldest amusement park’s in Europe. It opened in 1843. It had a story book kind of charm to it.
All their flowers were in bloom and beautiful. As the sun went down, the lights came on and added to the charm.

We didn’t go on any rides. We just took in the sights and smells. Everyone seems very friendly.
We went back to the hotel and i grabbed a Carlsberg. Melissa and I hung out in the lounge and David went to bed. We had a good chat catching up on life.

We then went to bed. Long and exciting day!
