Happy Mother’s Day!!!!
Our plan was to not set an alarm and just wake up when our bodies said to. I assumed my body would get me up around 6:30.
I heard a knock at the door and it was 8:30 am. I saw that Melissa and David had texted they were up and ready for breakfast for about a hour. Yikes. I felt terrible everyone was waiting on me for breakfast. I needed to shower but was still a little stupid from the lack of caffeine.
I went into the bathroom and couldn’t find the knob for the shower. The bathroom is smaller than our camper bathroom. There is a small spot you pull the shower curtain closed, but during a shower the entire bathroom pretty much gets wet.

But there are NO visible knobs!
I played with the handles on the sink. Nothing happened. I texted David for help.
I had to switch a lever on the left on the sink to control the shower. Ugh! Why? Fine!!!! I moved forward annoyed. The shower curtain barely gives you enough room to move in the shower.

When I finished my shower, as I went to open the wet curtain, it attached itself to me and started sticking to my body, engulfing me in itself. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! I was being assaulted!
I was able to get out of there and decided that the shower was not relaxing and I very much didn’t like it!
We went to this fabulous bakery and got coffee and a pastry. The cups of coffee are more like a 1/4 of my normal amount of coffee. I grabbed a juice that was beet root, ginger and apple. It was kinda gross.

There was a massive marathon going on all day today with thousands of people in the streets cheering on runners. There were massive amounts of marathon runners as well. It was crowded but we didn’t really feel the crowdedness as it was spread all over the city!
Our first jaunt today was to walk Havengard Promenade. This is an iconic view of Copenhagen.

We passed cute little shops and looked at all the trinkets. I bought myself a cute little bobble toy. It is simple.
We had a street hotdog and split it for a snack yum! We also bought tickets for an hour long boat tour. We got on the boat and there was a guy and his mother that sit in front of us. His name was Damien.
Damien chatted with us off and on through the boat ride. He even shared his hard dry danish cookies with us. They were like eating sawdust. I declined the second one offered. But it was nice that he shared.

The boat ride was neat. We saw lots of buildings, the Danish royal’s castle, the Army base etc.

This is the iconic shot used in movies and as the photo to represent all things Copenhagen.

Sir and lady duck were swimming right up to the boat.
This is the boat the king of Copenhagen use to sail around in.

These were condos that went for 23 million a piece.

We went under several bridges, some you would get knocked out if you stood up. Other bridges we had to keep limbs in the boat as there were mere inches from the boat to the wall.

This building had beautiful wisteria growing all over it!

Some of the buildings were built in the 1600-1800 hundreds.

This church was built in the 1680’s the spiral added about 40 years later. You can take stairs to the tippy top of the spiral. We all poo poohed that idea as we are walking a few miles a day and have tired legs.

We saw a statue of the Little Mermaid. It wasn’t overly impressive. This statue was made it 1913 and has gone through two decapitations, vandalism and has been painted a few times. It was small. About 4 fit tall. Someone actually cut her head off twice as a prank.
The statue was made for a book written by Hans Christian Anderson.
After our boat tour, we decided to have an alcohol beverage at a place called the Ice Bar!
Everything in it was ice, except the floor and they put wood down so you can sit. The ice is harvested from the Torne River. Artists shape and carve into this crystal clear ice. Our glasses were ice.
We had to put on special coats and wear gloves in there. The temp was about 23 degrees.
The alcohol beverage I ordered was a rhubarb drink. It was delicious.

It was a unique experience and we had fun doing it.
We then had lunch at a restaurant that was outside. The chairs had blankets in case you got chilly. It was in the 50’s and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.
After lunch, we went to a big department store. We looked at all the decor which was simple and neutral.

I found some unique decor as well.
We kept seeing these bobble toys in every gift shop. They were toys designed in they 1060’s that are meant to be simple and bring joy!

The city is laid out and incorporates large areas for the public to gather. They love statues here as well.

Some of the statues feature artistic nudity. I am not mature enough to compose myself and be intellectual and appreciate the art form of the human body. I am more the “look, his weenie is out!” Type of art appreciation. David and I were having fun with this!

Some of the animal statures were anatomically correct. Leading to comments like: “oh he is DEFINITELY a boy horse!”
I understand and accept I am not mature!

The flowers and lilacs smell wonderful! They are also so beautiful!
The architecture is grandiose and amazing. This is someone’s front door. The arches and lion’s heads were just so cool!
We headed back to the hotel around 5 ish. Melissa found a place for dinner we should try called “Hello Pasta”. It was a place that served hand made pasta. I ordered a Barbara salad, which was delicious!
We came back to the hotel and Melissa and I went to the common area to chat for a bit.
We went to bed at a reasonable time. My legs are tired but feel pretty good.
Tomorrow morning we are off to the airport for our hour long flight to Sweden. The weather was supposed to be rainy today but it only sprinkled while we were eating.
