12/25/25

We had a guest join us in the bedroom last night. Don’t get the wrong idea. It wasn’t an upside down pineapple kind of guest.

Our house was chilly but we were warm in our comfy bed. Moe was not comfy. He jumped over the gate at the bottom of our stairs and invited himself in our bed. I woke up this morning with Paul and Moe snuggle sleeping. That dog!

Our family has been separated at Christmas in the past. We didn’t see Avery yesterday or today. It is funny how Christmas changes a little bit each couple of years.

We will celebrate Christmas with Avery and Kendall on Saturday. We planned it that way. Avery can get overwhelmed if she has too much social activity and not enough recharge time (I wonder where she got that from?)

I am very familiar with the line Avery teeters before she loses it. I knew it will just be better this way. Not just for her, for all involved.

We planned to do a Saturday family get together for lunch.  Everyone can drive home when it is light out annd stay safe.  Avery and Kendall will have time to recharge their batteries. Perfect! I am looking forward to it.

Our morning was quiet. I prepared the traditional Christmas quiche, we opened presents with Christmas tunes on. Peaceful and quiet.

We watched A Christmas Story! Put the house back together and enjoyed our new things.

I got a new Ninja Slushi maker….makes non-alcoholic as well as adult beverages. Summer 2026 might be dangerous up at the islands.

Of course I had to make sure it worked ok. I had a large margarita after dinner. Yep! It works great!!!!!! I have a recipe book and things already added to my grocery pick up cart.

I made a small dinner for Paul, Ethan and myself. I never even changed out of my pajamas. Bliss.

We ended the evening with watching a sort of Christmas movie called “why him”.  It is an older movie but HILARIOUS for most ages. There is a lot of language in it, but we laughed many times…hard….Paul was engaged the whole time -which is very difficult for me to find a movie to get him to sit still. It was a wonderful day. Compared to some of our Christmas’s in the past, this one topped the books….even if it was different without Avery.
