12/29/25

I woke up only a little sore from the fall yesterday. Stupid dog! I was thinking it would be worse. Physical therapy has been such a wonderful gift.

Paul has this week off and was home today. He puttered around the house while I SLAVED away. Not fair at all!

He reached out to Avery to see if she could drop her car off for some maintenance work. While she was at the house we did our workout routine together. It was more strengthening than “workout”. I showed Avery my routine and what muscles it was targeting. It was fun and we laughed as we complained about how horrible it is to exercise. But….we begrudgingly did it.

The deal was that we would drop Avery off at her apartment afterward. Paul needs a couple days with her car.

On the way to her apartment, we stopped at Autozone. This store is full of so much testosterone. Paul went in to grab break fluid while Avery and I sat in the car. We watched as man after man went into and came out of the store.

“They must have a discount on Monday’s for men with facial hair. If you have facial hair, you get 20% off.” I said kiddingly. One bearded man hurriedly skedaddled into the store. “Look how happy that guy is to get his discount.”

We started looking around and we were women in a car. Other women were waiting for their man from the car to come back.

I pointed it out to Avery. “Oh my God Mom! You are right! This needs to be a sociological study of gender dynamics.” She said excitedly.

We laughed. I lovingly called her a “nerd”.

We left the auto parts store (Paul didn’t get the facial hair discount due to his baby butt smooth face) and headed to Avery’s apartment. The roads were slick and not ideal.

We passed the newly opened Chic-Fil-A. I have never been a huge fan of their food. Paul asked Avery if she gets food there ever.

I shared my feeling “It is mediocre at best!” Paul disagreed and said he enjoyed their food. Avery piped up-“it is certainly not good enough to excuse their human rights violations.” She said it with such snark! This kid!

To be clear, Chic-Fil-A has never been cited for any human rights violations. There is some controversy with them funding to support groups opposing LGBTQ. It grew large enough to get Chic-Fil-A banned from some airports.

I do love that Avery forms her opinions based on educating herself and her belief that everyone should be treated equally. She was full of it today! She even made the family quotes TWICE with her quick whit.

Penny was out of sorts today. She was driving me nuts. Was it the excessive wind? Maybe. Was it that Paul brought so Christmas blow ups in the house and had them running near her water bow? This is much more likely. It took us far too long to figure it out. Poor Penny.

To make up for it, she gets to sleep in the bed with us. Just in case it is the wind. She settled right in and went fast asleep. I think she was even smiling.😊

  1. I love Avery! I have never or will I ever eat at Chic-a-Filet. Did I spell that right?

  2. I also do not like Chic Fil A - for their strict, biased policies and the one time I did try it, it was not even mediocre. KFC all the way!! Also - why do NYS Thruway rest stops have Hick Fil A's? Most people travel on Sunday - and they are closed Sundays!
