Today I saw an ad for “Last Minute Memorial Day Outfits”. Ummmm…..are these outfits for 2025? We have well over a month to Memorial Day. What the heck? Also, am I the only one that will wear the same clothes on Memorial Day as I wear any other day of the week? Then I was annoyed. I was annoyed at the ad, annoyed with people who wear Memorial Day outfits. Just annoyed.
I looked down at little Jiminy all curled up and sleeping. HE NEEDS a Memorial Day outfit. I have a tiny top hat that looks like a flag. He will look dapper in that! I am sure someone will get annoyed that I dress my dog up. So I guess that is a wash.
It was so beautiful out today. Our yard is so mushy. There is visible standing water on all sides.
Paul was pissed because he “couldn’t do anything” outside. He proceeded to fix a friends car (outside), dig up some weeds (outside), troubleshoot out gutter situation (you guessed it, outside). I had the windows open on ever side of the house. I was chuckling because he was complaining outloud to himself.
I made lunch and he came in.
Me “I noticed that you have really honed in on your muttering skills.”
“What do you mean?” Paul asked
“Outside I can hear you muttering about everything.” I pointed out.
He laughed out loud. He finished eating and went back out. Every time I heard him I yelled out “MUTTERING” in a mocking voice and he would laugh out loud.
Paul has a fear of heights. I do not. I can get right up to the edge and look around. He got out the granddaddy ladder and I climbed it to the highest gutter on the house. It was plugged. Paul was my spotter. Luckily I am not easily grossed out. I had to scoop out moldy, dead leaves and sludge from the gutter. I was so high up it was making an impressing wet splatting noise as each handful was tossed to the ground.
It was so messy and smelly. I was also messy and smelly.
We accomplished a lot of stuff today. I did two more meal preps, packed the camper (it’s just about done), laundry, dishes, bathed 67% of the dogs. I chose that number because it was the two bigger dogs. Penny ran through puddles like an idiot to chase people riding their bikes past the house. She stops short of the invisible fence proving there is a little gray matter in her head.
Moe spent the entire day outside. Half of the day he sat guarding the house like a statue. Then Paul brought his bed out. Moe proceeded to continue guarding the house by looking at the backs of his eyelids and snoring.

What a mug!
Ethan went to Cleveland and purchased fireworks. He is making some but wanted to purchase some as well. I find things like this on my counter and it makes me laugh.

You know…..just explosives. Ha! Don’t worry, this mixture is too fine to do any damage and needs to go through another process before he can really set it off.
I asked Ethan why he doesn’t get certified to do bigger displays for like the town or public events. He totally enjoys it. He is putting his chemistry and physics brain to work. Luckily he did awesome on both classes so I trust his cautious nature.
I am also thankful I get to witness his creativity. There was a time when we were sure if he was going to live. Here he is making large scale fireworks (safely).
Avery did a presentation to other college students studying physics in the Rochester area.
She said the presentation went really well.

My little scientist.
Paul will be taking care of her car tomorrow. Replacing the snow tires. Today he buffed out some spots on her car (outside) where someone opened their door into hers and someone clipped he in the parking lot overnight.
This evening Paul, Ethan and myself watched our cop show we like. We just found out there will be a 9 th season. Yay! It was almost to the start of the rain that I brushed Moe and through the undercoat fur in the yard for the birds to make their nests.
Tomorrow will be a busy day as well!
