10/19/26

This morning I witnessed the bus stopped for the children across the street from our house. A white car sped past the bus as the stop sign on the bus was extended and the red lights were flashing.

The person in the white car could NOT have been even looking at the bus for several seconds to not notice.

Thankfully no one was injured. But what the heck? Is saving 30 seconds of your drive worth a kids life? Unbelievable!

I stewed about it for longer than I should have. Is this what getting old is like? Having anger towards this idiot driver for the rest of the day?

After work I was able to get outside with my mini chainsaw and cut up some bigger sticks, place them in paper bags and put them in the garage for when we need kindling this winter for the wood burning stove. I have several bags of sticks, but never feel like I have enough.

I am excited to have a fire again. It has been chilly in the mornings. We aren’t ready yet to start it. The chimney needs a good sweep and we haven’t brought the wood in yet. Soon…..we have to be patient.

Today at work I was given an assignment that was laughable. I had to look up data I don’t have access to. (What?) then prepare a budget without access to what the current budget looks like. The assignment is based on all the information I don’t have access to, and then make a recommendation for my little portion of a budget for 2027. I am supposed to have 2 back up plans in case the first proposal is not accepted.  Easy peasy!

I did point out the impossibility of completing this task in a sort of thoughtful way…but also a little sarcastic way. Luckily my boss is cool and understanding as she also does not have access to the information….again…what the heck? I will still try to do it….but pointed out it is a ridiculous assignment.

All I can do is make recommendations and hope they are considered.

Ethan is still not sure if he is sick. I told him his body may be trying to fight off something. His voice sounds a little froggy and he is blowing his nose far more than usual.

It’s still a little early for pneumonia…he is usually like clockwork on Halloween. We were joking about this. He is taking his temperature daily. I told him to drink as much water as possible. He is pretty regimented with his sleep schedule.

For now we wait and watch.
