Happy Birthday to Sarah!!!!

My finger has healed nicely. Kudos to my immune system for vacating the bee venom! The swelling is down and redness has subsided.

I took a nice long hour walk on the beach today with my coffee. There really isn’t any dead fish on the beaches. The ocean life eats it before it makes it to the beach.

Here is what I saw this morning that was exciting. I really enjoy finding the big sand dollars, shells, life, unalived animals, sea glass and more on the beach.

I have done my total assessment of this island. I would like to come back some day. I enjoyed the small restaurants that offered beach side tables. I liked the location of our rental house, close to the airport, in the middle of the island. I like that every beach felt like a private beach. It wasn’t people-y at all. A great place to go and beach hop.

There are a lot of abandoned buildings and abandoned hotels all over. It’s like a resort graveyard. We learned that hurricane Dorian really impacted their tourism in 2019, but also, some developers just ran out of money.

The West End was more economically depressed. They have different laws than Freeport. One thing that they need regulation on is disposing of the conch shells properly. Those piles upon piles of conch shells are money that could be generated whether it be used for tourists, fertilizer, crush down and use to make cinder blocks….

I found these cute little crab friends today as well. They were pinching me but it didn’t hurt. They were cute.

We got to the airport about 2 hours in advance which was far too much time. We were through TSA in a breeze and then sat on horribly uncomfortable metal chairs.

Paul was super pissed off because Andy and I were both in group 6 boarding and Paul was in group 9 and forced to check his bag. He was having a temper tantrum in the airport.

He was asking me things like “is there important things in my bag?” I assured him that he would get his bag back. It was as if he would never see it or his things again. Poor Paul.

Paul was so pissed when we landed in Miami webecause not everyone has airplane etiquette. People stand up right away, to just stand. People from the back are pushing to get off and not letting people zipper out of their seats off the plane.

He was making passive aggressive comments under his breath that were cracking me up.

We got his bag back when we went through immigration. Yay!

Sitting at the Miami airport. We fly out of gate D60. D60 has 12 doors. Once you enter through your door, you then have to weave around in this labyrinth of a covered outside hallways to find the letter associated with your flight. Every letter in the alphabet is used.

So we were Gate D60, door 10, letter M.

They load about 4 - 6 planes at a time. They are also deplaning all while this is happening. People coming and going through the 12 doors.

Each flight has its own spokes person. “For passengers traveling on flight 2536 service to Rochester, group 1 is now able to board.” But each group is called for each flight leaving. It is incredibly busy as they call out instructions non-stop. Door 10, turn left then right then right.

You scan your boarding pass at the designated door, then they scan it again when you get to the letter gate. For us we were door 10 gate M. Once through gate M we had to walk on to this steep ramp that winded around to finally get on the plane. What a convoluted process. It seems to work though.

I don’t think I will fly to this airport in the future if given the choice. There were SO many people! There was no where to sit away from people. Their lack of charging stations was also annoying. The chairs were not comfortable at all.

The WiFi on our airplane was not working which sucked. I shared my ears with Paul so we listened to music each in one ear.

Our flight arrived 20 minutes early and we were greeted with cold. Ugh! Why do vacations have to end?

When we arrived home, the dogs turned themselves inside out with excitement. Penny had excitement in the form of vocal excited noises. She demanded that she sleep in the bed with us. It was almost as if she thought we wouldn’t be there in the morning. I thinks she missed us. They all did. Ethan may not have missed us.

Paul was not impressed that the guy in front of him reclined his seat!

Diane came home with us!!!!
