Avery called me this morning in a panic. She lost Jet keys at the store. She had already gone back into the store, looked on the floor where they likely would have fallen out of her pocket. She didn’t k ow what to do as she was at the store, stranded, with no keys.
We have the backup set at our house. I told her to ask the cashier to see if anyone may have turned them in. I questioned if maybe she locked them in the car. She said she had peaked in the window and didn’t see them so she was sure they were in the store.
Off I went with the spare set to meet her. She was so apologetic and appreciative. I brought my computer as I had an interview to conduct and wasn’t sure I would be able to make it back home in time.
I arrived, and unlocked the door. She found her keys in two seconds hiding under a bag in her passenger seat. She was mortified.
She was so sorry she had “wasted my time” and for “being an idiot.” We had to pause that and reframe it.
“Avery….you are in finals week. You have difficult classes. You are moving from a dorm, to a town home and have to pack up all your things to unpack them. You are also starting a new externship Monday and finishing up your last two papers. GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE!”
I assured her that we are all humans. We all have locked ourselves out of something before. Get your head out of your butt and move on! No big deal!
We chatted for a few minutes and then we went our separate ways. I quickly realized I was not going to make it home for the I time and pulled into a church parking lot to make my phone call.
Afterward I continued on my way to my house. After all, I was meeting Sarah for her birthday weekend!
I arrived home and one thing after another happened with work where I couldn’t leave….i was an hour late after my goal departure time. Ugh!
I packed up my things and let the dogs out one last time. Now went hog wild with zoomies and came back all muddy. Ugh! I ended up just putting him in his crate. The mud can dry on him and come off on his blankets.
Ferguson was enjoying the sunshine and laid down in the grass, in protest of going inside. I picked him up and had to carry him in. All of these shenanigans added another 10 minutes to the departure time.
Finally, after road construction and traffic, Sarah and I met up. I checked into our hotel and the room was hotter than Satan’s butt crack! I turned the air conditioning down to cool off the room.
We spent the afternoon going to a few stores and I found the beer we like to drink. It’s finally available. I bought 9 cases. This beer doesn’t last long in stores and is gone within 6-8 weeks.
After shopping, we picked up dinner and headed back to the room. We pulled in to a large tour bus in the parking lot. It was a Lacrosse team and they were everywhere. Darn it!!!!! These kids better not be rowdy tonight.
It was even warmer than when we left. Nope! This is not happening! I went to the front desk and had our room changed. We moved to the new room where the air condition was functioning properly.
Sarah and I spent the evening at the outdoor fireplace. We sipped our adult beverages and chatted for a few hours.
It was a wonderful day spent with my friend!
Happy birthday Sarah! Have a fun weekend!
