I learned something today. I learned about birds “anting”. Apparently, birds will either apply ants to their feathers OR rest in an ant heavy area to get the ants to crawl on their feathers.
Ants produce and secrete formic acid from their body. They use formic acid as a defense mechanism. The formic acid is it is also known as to have anti fungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic properties. Birds engage in “anting” to get rid of any parasites they may have.
HOW DID THE BIRDS FIGURE THIS OUT? It’s genius.
I am sick of the rain and the drab. I am bummed this weekend won’t be nicer. That is the funny thing about camping, we still go. We laugh despite the rain. We will survive. We aren’t made of sugar.
I developed a headache that just wouldn’t quit. I was in bed by 8:20 pm. It is definitely aching. I hope it goes away soon.
Wow, Thank you for sharing the anting info Patti. Love it!
