5/13/26

We started our day off with a 25 minute walk to the harbor to catch a hop on, hop off boat. We talked to the guy at the ticket booth and got a boat/bus combo for 2 days for about $10.00 more.

We headed to Gamla Stan. Gamla Stan is the “old town” of Stockholm. The town dates back to the 13 th century. Some of the alley ways and cobblestone roads from medieval times.

On the way, it was misty rain. We stopped and admired a few gardens and fountains.

We were on the edge of Gamla Stan and got to watch the switching of the guards. From across the street.

We made sure not to break an ankle on this uneven cobblestone road.

We also admired the sights around Gamla Stan. There were a few guards posted.

The buildings were so old. The glass was mostly original as it was quite warped and difficult to see out of.

We did some shopping and ate at a cute little grille. Swedish meatballs, mashed potato’s and some dessert. The dessert was a cake called the Princess cake. Melissa also got a connamin bun. The princess cake was light, fluffy and fabulous!

This is known as the Stortorgsbrunnen.  I feel the need to say “god bless you” after I hear someone try to pronounce it because it sounds like an angry sneeze.

This was built in 1778 and provided water to the town square. The well dried up in the 1800’s. It has since been connected to city water pipes. Those are Lion mouths the water comes out of.

Lions are often used as a sign of strength in Sweden.

This part of the fountain was TERRIFYING! It took me way too long to figure out it was a lion head.

After lunch we continued sight seeing. We stumbled across men on horses with brand instruments. Seems dangerous!

These young men’s guns were impressive! They were trying to keep the crowd under control. Also everyone did what they were supposed to and no one was shot thankfully.

There were many people in this area. I had a lady walking right towards me. I was standing still. She saw me but still continued to aim towards me. She plowed into me, bounced off and almost fell in a puddle! Dumbass. Karma got you on this one.

We hopped on a boat and road it around to another spot. We exited the boat at one of the stops. We had a beer at a local bar. Mine was pretty good!

We hopped on a bus and took it to our exit and walked to the hotel. We were a bit damp, so I took off my coat and changed my dry pants.

We had margaritas across the street and then headed to an Italian restaurant. We found a table and ordered beverage and food!

After dinner we walked to a local IKEA. We wanted to go to ground zero. IKEA in Sweden! It wasn’t too much different from home.

We did have fun reading words and coming up with theories as to what different signs mean.

This sign meant to keep your genitalia off shark fins! Always a safe bet around sharks.

Just a one syllable word….ha!

A restaurant. Ha ha!

Doesn’t everyone like an after dinner pukka?

We went into another grocery store. I almost threw up in my mouth looking at the cracker spreads. Shrimp, cray fish, spiced tuna cracker spreads. 🤮

No thank you! 🤮
