7/11/24

I had an intense work day today. Lots of interviews and meetings. We left for camp. Ethan and Liam were left to “man” the house.

Avery drove so I could work in the car. Rachel came with us and our destination was camp. We arrived and Sarah and her family arrived shortly after. We have 6 teenage girls between the two families.

Moe did well meeting new people today. He only growled at Rachel, but now they are friends. Moe met Sarah’s dog, Quinn on a walk and they coexisted very well. It is all good socialization for Moe.

I realized that Moe does barrel rolling when faced with situations he is uncomfortable with. For example, Avery was trying to wipe his feet and he was rolling and mouthy during it.

We talked about just letting his feet be wet for now until we can get our electric collar up and running for some intense training. I ordered the batteries and charging cord this week, so  once those arrive I can start.

I also ordered the flags for invisible fence training to make potty breaks easier for Moe. Once they arrive I can set that up and start training next week. We have Phineas’s old collar so that will be helpful.

We still have Moe on a leash at all times because he felt it was necessary to “mark” a spot in our kitchen and that is just not ok.

I want to set him up for success. Marking is just not an option for him to get into the habit of. There are a lot of things he needs to learn to become the best version of himself.

He is a silly dog. Tonight he got the zoomies in the camper. It was hilarious but Ferguson often “bites” him. Ferguson also has about 7 teeth so it doesn’t phase Mow in the least.

Ethan ran out of one of his rejection medications. After a few rounds of phone tag, I was able to get a stat fill and Avery picked it up for Ethan. What a great sister. Ethan also had to stop at a different pharmacy after work to pick up a few other medications. It is hard to juggle both pharmacies, but for now, we have to do that.

We still don’t have our follow up appointment with the nephrologist. She encourage me to call the front desk and set that up. Because he is a complex case, we were told the appointment needs to be with an actual doctor.

I am hoping we can get him started on a medication that will help ease the work load of his kidneys. He is feeling run down working full time hours with a kidney that has reduced function. I can’t imagine being in a state of constantly having toxins in my bloodstream like Ethan does.

I do find if I don’t drink enough, I feel yucky. I don’t have toxins in my blood stream so I imagine it to be much worse for Ethan.

I am glad we are moving towards a pharmacology solution based on this biopsy. It will help me feel better about the autoimmune disease Ethan likely had.

Moves and countermoves are important to a successful outcome!
