7/22/23

We woke up bright and early to catch our flight to Dallas, then on to Jackson Hole. Our Uber driver was delightfully skilled and speedy weaving in and out of traffic, all while he was jamming to classical music. We all thought that was hysterical.

We made it through security. My bag of coffee got tested for explosives. Spoiler alert, it was just coffee.

Our flights went well and we’re on time. Flying into Jackson Hole was a bit turbulent as there are peaks and valleys. The difference in temperature had the plane bouncing all over. I like turbulence. It’s like riding a roller coaster. Paul’s sister did NOT appreciate the turbulence and we had a bag ready in case of vomiting.

The landing was beautiful and surreal. It looked fake. We waited for our shuttle to get the rental car. It FINALLY came.

When we went to get the car, the sales guy (who was weird) asked if we had reserved a full-size car. I said “yes”. He asked if we wanted to upgrade our choice to a SUV which we would need if we were going to any of the parks. This pissed me off.

Here was my problem. Obviously anyone going to Jackson Hole is going to at least 1-2 National Parks. No one visits the Grand Tetons to NOT look at them.

I reserved the car I reserved because the stuff I had read ahead of time didn’t require a SUV and a full sized car would fit our needs for the week.

I told him I did not want to upgrade.

He walked us out to the car which the entire lot had like maybe 12 SUV’s on it and no cars.

“It looks like we don’t have any cars left so we will give you this SUV at no extra charge.”

What a sneaky jerk. He used manipulative language to get us to upgrade fully knowing that that didn’t have the car we reserved. Ha ha! We didn’t fall for it.

The views are beautiful. Avery and I made dinner for everyone. We then walked around the Jackson Hole shops and town square.

I am thankful that we were finally able to get here. This trip was supposed to happen in 2021 but we just had too much going on. Good things come to those that wait.

We have been up 19 hours and it is time for bed.
