7/8/23

We decided to spread some of Phineas’s ashes today. Phineas touched so many lives. There were several in attendance that loved him. Avery picked some flowers and read a poem. We scattered his ashes in the water that he loved so much. I tossed a rock in, in his honor.  I hope his ashes help to form a stone for someone else’s dog, that loves diving for rocks, will fetch.

I decided to keep Phineas’s stick from Memorial Day that he enjoyed fetching. My eyes were a bit scratchy for the rest of the day from the tears I shed for my buddy, Phin Dog, Phineas The Superdog.

The kids wanted to each have a portion of his ashes as well so that they could always have him close. I know Phineas wouldn’t want us to be sad.

The girl’s did what Phineas would want, to play in the water. It was a bit windy but that didn’t stop the four girl’s from tubing. They fell off several times. Their tube twirling high in the air at times after they had been ejected. Squeals of excitement with a borderline of terror escaping them and booming off of the shoreline. This went on for about an hour. I know Phineas had his watchful eye on those kids.

Ethan started his journey back home to get a few things done before our crappy and nerve-racking trip to NYC. I know he is anxious just as I am, as this will determine our fate moving forward. If Ethan is in rejection, it will give us information on how to treat it.

After Ethan left and the tubing stopped, we spent the afternoon with a corn hole tournament and the longest game of washers ever. The boys did boy things like nailing boards on the boathouse. Teamwork was achieved and that was fun to watch.

We were able to have a campfire with stories of embarrassing pranks and silliness from the girl’s. We did sparklers, I showed everyone my epic dance moves to the B52’s song, Rock Lobster. It’s a short, 8 minute song (sarcasm).

The evening ended and tomorrow is back to reality. Ugh! I have to do adult things. The bright side is that we have had a pretty epic vacation. I have had both kids present. I got to enjoy other people’s kids as well. We made some happy memories.
