3/27/24

I woke up, and Heather was still asleep. She had decided last night that she wasn’t going to be present for breakfast. I met Melissa and her family for breakfast. The food at the casino was delicious.

Melissa and I became friends in 6 th grade. She is much smarter than me. She took all the hard classes in school. In 8 th grade she took advanced art. I so badly wanted to be in one of her classes that I begged and pleaded to somehow get into that class. Somehow, someone wanted me to shut up and allowed me in the class even though I didn’t have all the criteria met. I got to sit next to her and we had so much fun that year.

We played volleyball for 6 years together, going to summer camps to improve our skills.

We spent summers riding bikes the 4 miles one way to one another’s house. We canoed, we swam, we talked endlessly on the phone…except at dinner. We would hang up to eat dinner and then call each other back.

In 11 th grade I struggled with history. Who cares about that stuff? It came time for the final and Melissa came over to help me study. She quickly realized I was going to fail. She was in the accelerated class and gave me a crash course on what she thought would be on the test.

Thanks to her, I passed 11 grade social studies. We have kept in touch while we were miles apart.

We had a great breakfast chatting. Her son, 11, seems like such a cool kid.

I went back and visited with Heather for a little bit. She was having a perfectly leisurely morning. I decided I better get my bitt in gear as I had been goofing off all weekend and there were things to be done at home.

On my way home, I planned my afternoon. I did meal prep, laundry and mopped all the floors. I even washed the dishes.

I reached out to a rescue group about one of their pittbulls. I am letting the universe take the wheel and see where it takes us. His story is that he is friendly, likes people and dogs. He also plays gently with small dogs. He is 3 years old. I am not sure about much after that.

My dogs are very much my hobby. Paul spends his money on cars, jet ski’s and other thrill seeking vehicles. So I am going to do my hobbies. I like talking to the dog’s, cleaning them, trimming their nails and taking them for rides in the car. Most of all, I like to camp with them. I look forward to the walks  with them and activities we can do together.

Everyone in our house is missing Phineas. We miss the presence of a big dope full of love around the house.

We are all wondering the same thing. Does he swim? I hope so!

  1. Awww..... thanks for the sweet memories. Smarter than you? Nope! Your comedic wit and fast come backs absolutely blows me out of the water. I have no memory of helping you study in 11th grade. Really? Ha! Ha! We had so many great times together and are keeping the great times going. It was so fun to hang with you and Heather this weekend. Thank you for joining us! My family thinks you are the funniest person they know and we all love spending time with you! Cheers to more great times ahead!

  2. I totally remember it. You went over 6 essay questions and how to answer them. 4 of them were on the test. Totally crazy. I will never forget it!
