It was so beautiful day today. I was thankful for the fact I was able to work outside. My two lazy coworkers were napping on the job. One of my coworkers was locked in a crate because she rolled in something and wouldn’t stop barking at the neighbors.
Ethan had his hematology appointment. It was in the same office as oncology. This does happen because a lot of oncology patients also have abnormalities with their blood. I didn’t think to warn Ethan about this until I read it on the office door.
I assured him that there was nothing else going on. Really the only minor issue that sparked this appointment was his decreased number of platelets (the cells that help you clot) and he is on multiple medications that can cause that. He is not in a danger zone. I just wanted someone to follow it.
They wanted to do lab work. We advocated for labs to be done tomorrow. We are going to the lab tomorrow anyway because we have to see how things are looking with his medication adjustments and kidney values from last time. They agreed to that. Ethan has really focused on his drinking. I am hopeful that he sees a reward for his efforts. I am afraid he will be earning another kidney biopsy if they haven’t.
After our appointment we will be going to pick up Ethan’s steel toed boots at a specific store. This will be used for his apprenticeship. He has a voucher for them so they should be somewhat affordable for him.
Going to the appointment today was effortless compared to a year ago. Not only was it local, but Ethan gave no complaints. I am also thankful for that. Sometimes I never know what the reaction is going to be.
About a year ago I placed a vet tech into a role that I felt she would be a great fit for. I had two hospitals to choose from. I chose the one I thought she would thrive in. She wanted the other hospital because it was closer to her house.
I talked her into the one that was farther away. She ultimately chose that hospital and has been thriving ever since. She occasionally reaches out to tell me what she has been doing and it makes my day. Today she shared she was speaking at a national conference. She totally made my day. She is one of my favorite rewards of my job. I was happy to hear from her.
The weather is totally affecting my mood in a positive way. I love the sunshine. ☀️
