4/21/25

I woke up early this morning and was able to watch the sunrise. I made coffee and sat out by the pool alone. The sun was dancing across the sky.

Some guy stopped us as we were walking. He told Paul that he watched a movie last night and he was wondering if Paul was the actor in the movie. The movie was called Drop. We figured out later that the guy thought Paul was Ed Weeks.

Today I planned a day of excursions. Our first stop was the Latille Falls and Fish Spa. To get there, we drove on crappy roads that were narrow with multiple curves every second.

The drivers here like to be risky. They pass you on hair pin turns and we hold our breath each time as they escape a head on collision by fractions of a second. You can tell they are natives because they have different license plates than foreigners do.

We arrived and were greeted by a man that shared with us all of the plants he has planted. He had multiple types of mango trees, but they weren’t in season.

We meandered to the Fish Spa. There were benches lining this small pond. You sit on the benches and stick your feet in the water. The fish swim over and start nibbling on your feet. I got giggling because my feet are ticklish. My giggling turned into uncontrollable laughter.

These flowers were quite popular, they are the flowers of the Datura tree. They are known for their psychoactive properties. They are used quite often in witchcraft, magic and shamanism.

He had a great crop of mangos

The fish biting our toes and feet.

We then walked down steep steps to the water fall. At the bottom, it opened up to a waterfall you could walk up and touch it.

The rails were hand made out of wood.

We walked around and admired the beauty of the location. No one was around. Perfect!

We then headed over to Sabwisha beach. This is a black sand beach. We all went in for a swim. The water is warm, so you could walk right in. The riptide was fairly strong so we had to be careful. The waves were between 2 feet and 6 feet. We didn’t  have to go in very far. Each one of us one by one were taken down by a wave except Seth.

Off to the side of the beach were cool rock formations that allowed the waves crash into it. I lost my sunglasses in the ocean with a wave spanking me and dragging me under. It was quite fun to play in the ocean.

This beach was off the beaten path and clearly a locals beach. One guy with minimal teeth was trying to sell us something as we were leaving. Jason kept telling him “no thank you”. This man pressed his face against my window and was saying something that we couldn’t figure out. We just kept saying “no”. What a creep! We lovingly referred to him as “tooth” for the rest of the day. It added to the fun!

We then drove to the diamond waterfalls, botanical gardens and mineral baths. When we arrived, the sign said “closed”. What a let down. There was a guy standing outside waving us over. We weren’t convinced that it wasn’t an illegal operation. The park closed at 4 and it was 4:40 pm.

While the guys were a bit uneasy, we took advantage of seeing the park. We were the only ones in there and half expected to be locked in. I had a visual on an escape plan if that was the case.

We started to walk through. The flowers were beautiful and smelled even better. I closed my eyes and just soaked up the sent of the sweet flowers.

We stepped into the mineral pools and stood for a bit. The water was warm and soothing. It was about calf high. It was warm but not too hot. I wanted to sit in it but didn’t want to get wet all over again.

These springs are a product of volcanic activity. The last eruption was in 1766. The magma chamber heats the water to a consistent 113 degrees.

We continued on to view the waterfall. The minerals excreted changed on the daily. It dictates what color the downstream water is. The waterfall was beautiful and was a rust color due to the sulfur and minerals.

As we finished up, we were able to exit the park with no issue and no issue with our car. Yay! The best park was, we were completely alone. We saw NO OTHER PEOPLE!!!!!!

We ended up driving back to the Air bnb after that. We chatted about our fun adventures and which ones were the most enjoyed. We came across a scenic view of the Pitons. We stopped to take in the scenary.

We pretty much drove two thirds  of the island today. It look a bit over an hour to get home.

When we got home, some of us went in the pool and some took showers. We all gravitated to the pool area. We were hungry. We had multiple snacks to share and the boys got into the spiced rum.

We spent the evening under that stars just chatting. My back was done for the day. Time to lay down. Next up, tomorrow will be a beach/ pool day.
