4/10/25

The back pain fluctuates between shooting down my leg (nerve) and aching at the base of my spine like tight muscles. So that is a fun little thing happening for me.

I had a great chat with Avery this morning. She was cracking me up. We chatted for a bit, nothing exciting. I needed her help with a PowerPoint presentation I was doing. She helped excellently.

We did a little PowerPoint presentation for one of the girls on our team. She is moving to a different team. I collected a word or phrase from each team member. How would they describe her? I took that and turned it into word art.

This person shared their celebrity crush as a teen, so I made a collage of pictures with many pictures of said celebrity. I wrote a poem for her. The best idea I had I was unable to fulfill.

My kids still have their blasted recorders in the basement. I wanted to punk the whole team. I wanted to see their faces when I told them that I wrote a farewell song and wanted to play it. I wanted to turn on a fan and have my hair blowing in the wind. I then wanted to play Hot Cross Buns, but close my eyes and rock back and forth like it was the most emotional song anyone could have played.  I wanted to look like Kenny G, but with a child’s recorder.

The more I thought about it, the more outlandish the idea became. What would everyone’s faces look like if I did this? I was cracking myself up with the thought. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the recorder. Maybe next time?

I have planned out the activities I want to get done this weekend, knowing I likely won’t be feeling up to all of them. I do have my priorities, and have accepted that not all the things might be completed.

Ethan’s ultrasound is planned for Monday. I reached out to his nephrologist to light the fire to get the biopsy scheduled.  Things were moving with that.

After work, Moe and I headed to dog class. We are officially down to three of us in class. The other 3 have bailed. I don’t miss the Rottweilers.

I like the smaller class. Moe had a meltdown when in the middle of class a lady walked into the building. Apparently that was an unwritten rule of his. His deep howl-y voice echoed around the room. He was VERY “out of sorts”. Well beyond the limit of sorts. I had to distract him with food to get him from barking at this women like he wanted her dead. Not a good look for him.

He did pretty good in class. I am limited with my bending so I have to do some things in an alternative way. We got through it.

The things we are learning now, I likely will not lose but I value the process and socialization of class. The dogs have to learn to behave while other dogs walk close to them. He needed that.

We learned about the test the dogs will take to “graduate”. They have to showcase their skills. They have to master a down stay for 3 minutes without correction or treats. They have to master a sit stay for one minute without correction or treats amongst other things. We get points taken off as handlers if we goof up what we are supposed to do with correction.

While it sounds intense, this “grade” will never go beyond this class. No biggie.

I asked Paul for a lot of extra help this weekend so I don’t overdue it. I am hopeful he listens.
