Today was busy. Ethan had a therapy appointment and set himself up in a month to assess his anxiety with starting his apprenticeship.
After that I went with him to pick out the steel toe boots that he needs for his apprenticeship. Luckily, he had a voucher for the boots. Ethan drove so I could work in the car while we were traveling to the location. We took his sporty little red Supra.
On our way home, Ethan spotted a turtle in the middle of a busy road. He quickly turned his car around to make sure the turtle crossed the road safely. As he got back into the car, he handed me the turtle with the idea of putting it in our pond. It wasn’t a snapper, it was a painted turtle. Ethan made friends with the turtle as did Jiminy. We released it into our pond, away from the road, so it doesn’t get hit.
We talked about Ethan’s old turtle, Emma, and how she was so crabby. She bullied the dogs and had them totally scared of her as she would clunk her shell at them, daring them to come closer so she could kick their ass. The funniest thing she did, was that mean lady turtle developed a crush on Ethan and would lay eggs for him. She also flirted with him when he would walk into the room. She now resides at Seneca Park Zoo.
As the day went on, I got a call from the hematology office. Ethan has a low B12 level. That occurs in 14 % of kidney transplant recipients. It can also be caused by one of Ethan’s rejection medications.
hopefully it can be determined and corrected. these appts, although numerous and a little anxiety ridden, do give you a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, cruising in that cool car and saving turtles
