I may have to ask xray to start coming later. This 5am wake up call is not my favorite. They were coming at 6:00 but the past 2 days it’s been 5. I can’t get back to sleep after. I guess it means I get to start drinking coffee earlier. Poor people, they are just doing their job trying to make sure my kid is healing.
Ethan has been restless all night. He is moving his arms and occasionally eyeballs will appear but they are not making eye contact which is more delirium than anything. I made sure they gave all the extra doses of medication that the psych team put into place in case this happened, to try an offset his delirium. It was really good exercise for him. Little movements will help him gain strength.
Janice broke down overnight. When Janice broke Ethan’s fever went up, heart rate when up and his blood pressure went down. Nothing terrible. He recovered as soon as Janice decided to start working.
Ethan did have a little bit of blood suctioned out of his gut. Not a whole lot, but I insisted he needed an additional protectant for his stomach. He doesn’t need an ulcer on top of everything.
His oral feeds have gone up and have cause his gut to wake up. Things are now “moving”. That’s good. He is still able to have good urine production even on Janice (good think because she likes to take breaks frequently). Yeah for the kidney(s). It is to be determined when we look for the other kidney.
I am assured that Ethan will not remember this stage. Phew. I will remember it. That is ok. It will make his progress all the more sweet and successful.
Baby steps forward are good. Waking up is not always easy. It all takes time. Hang in there. We love you both.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Patti and Ethan! Good update and I'm praying for another, good, productive day of healing. Every day is one day closer <3
ReplyDeleteAll positive things! Wonderful to read. 🚗💨
ReplyDeleteI love that he will be oblivious to all of this. That makes me happy. And like Mary, you get to be there and ponder them all in your heart because that's what we do... although you have gone through the wringer and you are absolutely amazing to so many of us. I like this report, Patti!
ReplyDeleteMovement.... but not pulling things out.
Praying for full even if slow and steady recovery.
Come on, Ethan!
