We have had more wins than not today. Kidney values are going down. Yeah! Because Janus is so efficient, the sedation/paralytic are just not doing their job. Janus is clearing them right out.  Ethan has been twitching and moving but not really able to communicate. He can follow simple directions. His physical therapy for example he was a champ.  He was pushing his legs against my hands, as we build up strength for him to be able to push himself up in the standing position.

He is moving all limbs obviously decreased motion on the left, but also now tracking me around the room with both eyes, together.

The pulmonary hemorrhage is still a concern.  They said they were going to decrease his heparin dose. He is on heparin because of the blood clot in his left ventricle. The heparin makes it so that it doesn’t grow bigger, then the body can work on breaking it down and resorbing it but it can take up to 12 weeks.

The pulmonary hemorrhage is now more concerning than the blood clot, so it is getting moved up on the concern list.

“If you decrease the heparin, won’t his blood clot in the dialysis machine?” I asked knowing he has had two instances of clotting in that machine so far already.

“That’s a good point.” Both his critical care doctor and cardiologist agreed.

They decided to add the heparin to the machine and not to Ethan which will prevent clotting in the machine but also deliver a smaller amount to Ethan. Win-win.

They also weaned down on a medication that could have a side effect of pulmonary hemorrhage. Our new goal is another 2.4 liters off by tomorrow at noon.

The office is on Comedy Central, so I have the TV on for Ethan to listen to. You may think we would get sick of it but we don’t.  Now I am trying to learn the rarest facts I can to “up” my office trivia knowledge. Some day it is going to come in handy.

Ethan was up and moving all morning so he got a boost in a sedative for him to nap. He is enjoying his slumber.
