Janice shit the bed this morning. It’s not all her fault. They tried discontinuing the heparin and the blood clotted. But we were all still verbally abusive to her. She’s a machine. She can take it.

Ethan pulled out of his crisis without incident (cardiac arrest). He is still critical. Doctors making small changes with medications and then seeing the results. Trying to find out how to support him. His two big issues today are pulmonary hypertension and all the fluid he lost from Janice, he has gained back. Ugh!

One month from today Ethan will turn 18. Wow.

The fact they could avoid ECMO so far is promising. It is not off the table completely.

There has got to be some good news right?  They aren’t seeing the clot in his left ventricle anymore. Yeah!!!!! Take the wins as they come.

They are hooking Ethan back up to Janice again. They are going to use a small amount of heparin. Hopefully enough to keep Janice from clotting but not too much, to cause more pulmonary bleeding.

Ethan will be getting another echo today and we find out the plan at rounds. I am feeling pretty tired today. I must have been tense in my sleep because my neck, shoulder and back muscles are sore. I will try to rest later. Not sure how that will go.

The sun is shining so bright in our room. I am soaking it up. It is good for the brain. Ethan has it on him as well. Every little bit helps right?

  1. It's good to hear some good news, I hope it continues and they can get Ethan over this bump in the road. Try and get some rest if you can. Love you both

  2. Janice can take it. She's not Hal from 2001... A Space Odyssey. Now that was a scary machine. Tell her to behave herself or we'll unplug her. That's my favorite scare tactic with technology.

I love the sunshine! And my wish is for Ethan's sweet body to rest... and recuperate.... healing is essential... and then quietly reawaken to a wealth of opportunities. But how to get the body on that path, oh mylanta, Patti.... there's the question that minds way smarter than mine are trying to discern. Tiny adjustments... even keel... pistons pumping. And my prayer groups are praying for this remarkable young man. And for you, his daddy and Avery. We stand strong in his corner.

  6. While you are advocating clean bathrooms & functioning laundry rooms...you should add to your list of things (you know...in your free time)...Onsite massages to parents like you who #1...are sleeping on glorified restaurant booths....#2...are far more stressed than your average Joe....and #3 are selflessly giving to their children and just need some good old fashioned self care.
I am keeping you both (along with the rest of the family) in my daily prayers and pixie dust vibes. Keep on pushing on Ethan...we need you to get better!!!!
