12/1

Apparently one of Ethan’s doctor’s caught wind of that I was stuck on a stretcher for  over 8 hours yesterday. She made a call and shortly thereafter a bed arrived for me. Wow! It was so much more comfortable. About another hour or two went by and I had gotten a Room. It wasn’t the VIP room they had promised, but i LOVE it. It is small, has a cold ew of the bridge.

Yesterday, I told the nurses to tell Paul, when they called him to say my surgery was done, to tell them that my “gender reassignment surgery” was all done….just to make Paul sweat a little. Ha ha

Today I am feeling sore but have been walking around the room and sitting in a chair. Motion is lotion.

Ethan got up and walked too. Yeah! He is realizing this surgery went better than the last time around. He is excited about that.

I have felt so tired today. I took several naps.! I had a little bit of food. Hospital food is not the best. I am still quite bloated and my gut is swollen.

I WAS RELEASED. I am back at the apartment. Paul wheeled me over to see Ethan. It was good to see him. I was able to ask questions during rounds too. I was put on speaker phone. I got Ethan’s anemia addressed, which I get good about.

Ethan’s urine is still pretty bloody which is normal after transplant. It will clear up over the next day or two. Ethan’s PT car guy was at his side today as well as his OT buddy. He liked both of them so it was fun to get his PT and OT today.

This is my kidney. I think it is a pretty one.

My view is pretty and the sun was bright today.

  4. Oh, a bed... and then released! YAY!!!!! I'm so happy for you. Here's my mother advice: Do not over-do. Do not do it... be easy and careful and get rid of the gas... but the motion is lotion is good advice! I am so excited for ALL OF YOU!!!! Happy dancing at the farm!!!! And God bless Paul, I know he's going to take good care of all of you... although you're awake now, so he won't get much chance to talk. :) AND A GREAT KIDNEY!!!! Brits would make steak and kidney pie out of that sucker. Seriously, it looks pink and healthy like it's supposed to! Still praying.

  8. What a great blog except for your soreness. I am so happy both of you are doing well. Do you feel lighter (one less kidney)? That is one good looking kidney you gave Ethan!
Please rest and take care of you but I think your body is going to tell you to do that, just don’t fight it.
