🙂So these poor people have been hopping all day. Normal rounds take 10-15 minutes. Not Ethan’s. Nope his was at least an hour. He was not remaining stable. As soon as they dealt with one issue, Ethan would throw another one at them. Constant. There was much discussion involving the many beautiful minds of several doctors and staff.
Also, as soon as rounds were over, everyone dispersed to the next case, for about a minute and a half. Then Ethan’s two nurses (one isn’t enough anymore) had to go grab the entire gang and bring them back for guidance with whatever it was Ethan was doing at the time.
At rounds, they discussed adding another antibiotic for the pneumonia. They did the broncoscopy and didn’t find any large mucus plugs. Lavaged his lungs. Cultured the muck. That will take a few days for results. The X-ray afterwards did look a little better.
I told Ethan’s cardiologist to just pull up a chair outside his room because it was evident Ethan wanted him close.
I keep hearing “This is a tough case.” And “Ethan is a complicated guy.” “This kid is pulling out all his tricks.” I shake my head and say “You guys didn’t believe me.”
Simple tasks can throw Ethan into either an arrhythmia or some kind of flutter or desaturation event. Like just turning him can set his system into a tizzy. Luckily he is not conscious.
Ethan has a number of breathing treatments today too. This will also help support his lung.
Ethan is holding his own. I can see little bits of improvement.
The best news of all, his biopsy came back negative-no rejection!!!! Yeah.
I’m glad the the biopsy came back negative.. we don’t need any more issues.. knocking on wood
ReplyDeleteEthan is definitely making this medical team work. They absolutely sound like superheroes. So grateful for the bits of good news. We are all cheerleading for this kid. Go Ethan!
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago we spent several weeks in the icu’s with our mom. It was tough and overwhelming at times. I’m sure it is on your end as well, but the good lord has you well protected. You are doing a fantastic job conveying and keeping it together, well on the outside anyway it appears. Bless you for being with him and bless Paul for keeping the home front safe and sound.
ReplyDelete❤🌹❤🌹❤🌹still with you, sending positive energy!
