Patience is hard to exercise. Ethan has been slowly and slowly healing. He has had his share of set backs Lately I have had the patience of someone trying to surf the net without a high speed connection. I spoke with one of the doctors that reminded me that healing from this type of surgery is a long process. Broken bones take weeks to heal. I just want to see life in his eyes again. I know that I need to be patient.
I spoke to Paul yesterday about how frustrating it was to be driving behind someone that is so damn slow. He described being stuck at a stop sign with no cars coming. The person in the vehicle in front of him just sat there for WAY longer than they needed to. He was frustrated with them. He just wanted to get home. He was tired and hungry. We have all been in that situation and can empathize with those WTF moments.
I told him that when that happens to me, it is hard not to get irritated. You want to get out of your car and push the gas pedal for them. However, I did share that sometimes I justify that maybe this person was put in my path to slow me down for a reason. Maybe it slowed me down enough that I didn't hit that deer or possibly prevented and accident. So now I have to eat my words and follow my own advise.
Maybe these little set backs were put in place for a reason and Ethan will be better off for them down the line.
We had a big thing happen this morning. Ethan is elevated the highest in his bed that he has been since November 22nd. These little baby steps are so encouraging. Also Ethan's surgeon is coming later to remove 2 of the 4 chest tubes. WOW! The bright side of this is that not only does he have some of his chest tubes out, he will not have to be conscious for days with the painful chest tubes, he did it sedated and hopefully will not remember a thing.
I asked the surgeon if I could film her removing Ethan's chest tubes for his Youtube channel and she said yes. I keep taking little bits of video of him each day. I got to film him getting his nasal gastric tube. He is going to have one kick ass, battle for your life recovery video.
Today is a big day for him.
Your line of thinking of the little set backs in life is how I think. I too get frustrated at times, stuck behind that slow vehicle, then the vehicles behind me pushing me. Uggg. When being pushed I slow down even more as there has to be a reason.
ReplyDeleteGood idea getting video clips of Ethan for Ethan. He will certainly be creative when making the Kick Ass Video.
Positive vibes coming your way.
Patti you have such a great outlook on what is going on. You are an inspiration to everyone. Keep up the great work you are doing, Ethan is going to be amazed when he see all of this. Love you

Take that deep breath and count to something over 100. It is all going to come together. Things don't always happen in our time. We have to remember they will happen on God's time. Also remember there will be 2 steps forward and 1 step back for awhile. We love you.

Love seeing Ethan in a more upright position. What great analogies for us to depict a picture of what you all are going through. These analogies give me a specific way to pray. So thank you! Can’t wait for you to see your boys eyes look into yours again!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePerfectly said! Things happen to slow you down to prevent other obstacles. I believe in that too. He will have a field day editing a video with your footage!
