The night went ok. Ethan’s gut is not happy. His oral feeds have been discontinued. They determined he does not have c-diff which is great because I had visions of the particles just raining down on me while I slept.
This is especially good news because they were having to wrap themselves in these blue, flimsy garbage bag material gowns and put on surgical caps along with their goggles and gloves and double masks. Every time a machine went off they would have to do this to enter our room. How annoying.
They took an X-ray and found Ethan’s gut just isn’t quite working right yet and it was causing a lot of bloating. They will likely put him back on iv feeds today and rest his belly.
His nurse gave him the most thorough bath and changed the dressings on his face. He looks so much better. I wipe his face down at least 20 times a day or more. It is a lot to keep up with.
I am still hopeful a chest tube will come out today. He is moving forward.
